Happy HUMP Day
I apologize for being absent for so long...you could say I’ve been busy.  Today has been beautiful here in the big apple, sunny, for the most part, now cloudy but still warm.  It’s a pretty big day at my apartment as it’s my dog Lady’s 12th (!) birthday! So, do wish her a happy birthday, would you?

Currently  I’m listening to Madonna, per her ICON radio on her fan site. Yes, I joined the fan club in January in anticipation of tour pre-sale tickets and I was oh-so-right.  I will be seeing the second show at Madison Square Garden Thursday, June 29, 2006.  Dig.  I must admit, though, I am pretty sick about how expensive this show has become. I just went out to Ticketmaster (where, in this one case, I was, appropriately, their fucking slave) and I see auctions for main floor seats going for $550 a piece.  Not to be all I’m-so-cool name-dropping shows but, to give you an idea of how completely and utterly fucked the new pricing system for tickets is now, below is a list of shows where I sat in the first ten rows and paid less than $30:

Rolling Stones, 2nd row
Lenny Kravitz/Tom Petty, 8th row,
Janet Jackson, 7th row
Paul McCartney, 2nd row
David Bowie, 2nd row
Prince, 7th, 5th, and a couple other shows in the first ten rows
Madonna, first ten (I don’t remember, it was 1984, give me a break)

Yes, most of those shows were in the 90’s but, seriously, have things gone that insane?

Why am I complaining when I was stupid enough to fork out the dough for this, most recent Madonna show?  Well, because, I graduate from grad school May 12 so I thought WTF.  Besides, what if this is her last tour?  As she sang in “Justify My Love,” “The alpha and omega” and I saw the first tour so why not.

If you are one of the two people who visit my site from Minneapolis, I will be making a trip back to the big city May 20-27.  I am all over the place, but check my usual haunts during that Saturday that I come into town, I may even head over to Ink Lab for a tattoo if Doug or Dan are around, who knows.  Yee haw.  Or, email me kid, it’d be fun to catch up.  Bygones.  Congrats and all that.

So, I’m procrastinating writing a paper so I best hit the road. Look for my film reviews coming soon as I’ve been seeing movies like crazy.
