How are you spending your Easter Sunday? Lady is sleeping and simply relaxing. Now that she’s 12 she pretty much gets to do what she wants, no one fucks with her. As for me, well as you might guess, I’ve got a paper to write. I wonder how many papers I’ve written in my life? So many I couldn’t even begin to count. But, I have the very first paper I wrote in my scrap book; it was on Andy Warhol, I as in the tenth grade. I have not yet brought myself to read it, anticipating how horrible the writing must be. I’m that insecure.
ANYWAY. During a study break I’m going down to Union Sq, the Regal Theatre is playing “Friends with Money” and I am excited to see how much I relate to it. Previously, I always felt like the friend w/o money, but not so much at this age anymore. Still, when I was walking through the E. Village yesterday afternoon and walked past all the amazing brownstones I couldn’t help but to wonder how beautiful they were inside and what the people’s lives must be like who occupy them. Then, in the cab ride on the way home, I went past the helicopter landing strip (wealthy folks often ride their helicopter into the city for their commute, I guess) which is right next to a spot where these wonderful “Some Like it Hot” (remember, Mr. Shell for Shell Oil took Marilyn out on his Yacht) yachts and I laughed at the way some people in suburbs of Minneapolis (see Wayzata, Minnetonka, Edina) think they’re so rich and yet, the type of wealth I see on a daily basis in Manhattan is pretty astounding. (And if you’re from said suburbs, don’t flame me, I actually am speaking of people I’ve personally known.)
I’ll be back later with my review of the movie. I’m off now to breakfast and coffee.
Starfish and Coffee~
