2010 CYS Tour Participation Survey
Dear CYS Families,
We need your input regarding an exciting opportunity that has come up for CYS to tour Argentina and Uruguay in late June / early July, 2010. As most of you know, CYS has traditionally mounted an international tour every two years. For previous tours, participation has been mandatory for all CYS musicians who perform during the regular season. This year our Board has decided that participation in the 2010 South American Tour will be optional. Even though we anticipate the tour being a fabulous experience, musically and culturally, we understand that not all members will be able to participate. As a result, Mr. Eylar will select an orchestra from those 2009-10 CYS Senior Orchestra musicians who are willing to commit to the tour.
The tour will be approximately 14 days long, and we anticipate the dates to be from June 22 to July 5, 2010. We are expecting that the total cost per participant will be under $4,000, although both the dates and cost may vary slightly depending on the exact itinerary and other factors.
Because of the need to put together a musically balanced orchestra for the repertoire that Mr. Eylar has in mind, it may not be possible to accommodate every musician who is interested in touring, although every effort will be made in this regard. In order to proceed with our planning, we need to hear from every Senior orchestra musician regarding whether or not you are willing to commit to a CYS tour to Argentina and Uruguay in 2010.
