Welcome to My Page

I recently read a comment in an article about global warming that kids who enjoy unsupervised play in the wild before age 11 tend to grow up with strong environmental ethics.  The article lamented the fact that most kids today never see anything more wild than the inside of a shopping mall.  I feel lucky in that I had that play in the wild when I was young.  My dad frequently took us camping and I would explore the area with my brother and sisters and friends out of immediate sight of my parents.  We stayed out of trouble but in the process enjoyed a natural  and unsupervised interaction with the environment.  And I believe as a result, that experience helped shape my love and care for the natural world today.  I have not spent the time in the wild as an adult that I did as a child but lately I have been rediscovering it.

So within the pages on my site, I will be posting my hikes, travel and photography that I hope will encourage others to enjoy the world and leave it as they found it for others to enjoy too.  And I will add some of my favorite links, most of which will revolve around hiking, photography and the great outdoors.  Come on in!
