Golden Gate Bridge Hike with the Stanford Outing Club led by “V”.

I have lived in the Bay Area since September 1977, almost 30 years! And in all that time, I had never walked across the Golden Gate Bridge.  So when “V’ announced this easy hike in advance of his upcoming Alaskan ANWR backpacking trip, I decided to join in.

We met up at 10 AM at the Green’s Restaurant at Fort Mason in San Francisco and started our hike from there.  From Fort Mason it is an easy flat hike along the waterfront to the Golden Gate Bridge.

To get up to the bridge you have to hike up a short hill and then it is a dramatic hike across the bridge.
View of the bridge as we walked up to it.

Looking down off the bridge as we walked along it.
Looking up at one of the towers.  I’m getting dizzy already!

Another shot looking up.  Once on the other side, we took a lunch break and then headed over to Sausalito.
Walking into Sausalito where we caught the Ferry back after having coffee and ice cream.

On  the Ferry heading back to San Francisco.

View of the bridge from the ferry.

View of Alcatraz as we sailed on by.

Back in the city and heading off to dinner where we found a little hole in the wall restaurant for  a Korean BBQ dinner.  It was good!  And all in all, a great day out!
