My career is based on spamming, er..., uh...., I mean emailing valuable content to our company's customers and prospects. So I'm familiar with the pros of getting great emails, and the cons of getting unwanted crap. Especially being the owner of a Yahoo email account, because they are full of crap, they have the weakest spam filter EVER!
Anyway, when it comes to personal emails from people I know, I welcome them with open arms... except for one. I seem to be on one individuals list for absolutely EVERY general email she sends out to people. She never narrows down her target audience, but just sends everything to everyone on her 'go to' list. I have gotten, warnings about local kidnappings, when I neither have kids, nor live anywhere near her. I get invites to religious community activities, when again, not part of her community, and also, so very not religious. I get random holiday related cards, when we haven't spoken to each other for 3+ years.
Ok, so enough with the rant. But some people are just acquaintances, and thus should not be on the list-of-people-I-send-every-email-to-and-I-send-a-lot-of-emails-list. I'd like it much better if you just said 'Hi' and updated me with what's new in your life.
And don't worry, she won't be reading this... after all we're really not that close..., we just email. lol.
