OK, let’s try iWeb in action, shall we? I’ve already used these garden pics on a web page using Export —> Web Page in iPhoto 5 (which still survives in v.6, incidentally). This page comes from iPhoto 6, using Send to iWeb —> Photo Page.
This launches iWeb as a separate app, processes the images, and then brings up a Template selection sheet similar to Pages. From there it’s a simple matter of replacing the template’s placeholder text, which I’ve done here, and then hitting the Publish button.
I’m glad I already have some experience with Pages, because it is not at all obvious how to select or move page items. Having figured this out, though, it certainly is very straightforward to change the page layout to suit one’s particular needs. (For instance, I had to move the Slideshow button and the group of images down the page because of the amount of text I have here. There’s a trick which comes from Pages which allows selection of all the images and the button together, but I doubt if a newcomer would figure this out intuitively.)
p.s. I’ve got to say that iWeb’s new slideshow really is gorgeous! I also like that clicking on an individual image on this page opens it full-size in a separate window rather than switching to the slideshow as HomePage does.
