Whoo-Hoo! Isn’t it great when the universe seems to smile on you? My dear client Brian J. White is sitting high and rightfully so. There is so much to tell you about, and congratulate him on, that my fingers can’t type fast enough!

Let me begin out of order, cuz I am so stoked! Writer, actor, producer, director, and box office powerhouse, Tyler Perry has decided to bring Brian to meet his most famous character Madea; the gun-toting, sharp-tongue grandma who first appeared in his 2000 play, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, up on the big screen in a film by the same name also starring Academy Award winner, Taraji P. Henson!

Brian met Tyler Perry when he was cast in Daddy’s Little Girls opposite Gabrielle Union. And during the audition process, it was clear that Brian was not the first choice for the role. However, Brian’s unique take on the character and deep commitment to truth in acting, gave him Mr. Perry’s ear. I believe that Brian took a great risk to earn this role, one that will benefit Tyler Perry, as well as the movie going public. Brian’s brave stand for a vision he believed in is cause for an even stronger, “Congratulations!”

“When it rains, it pours” the old saying goes, and it has been pouring good fortune on Brian. (When you fight the good fight, the Universe takes notice, I say.) Joss Whedon, Academy Award nominated winning American writer, director, executive producer, occasional actor, and creator and head writer of the well-known of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse, has chosen to cast Brian in his horror-esque / romance movie, Cabin in the Woods, but sadly, the dates were not going to gel with both I Can Do Bad All by Myself and Men of a Certain Age (Did I mention that the TVT series starring Brian,“Men...” got picked up!) I am such a big Joss fan, myself, I couldn’t stomach the idea that Brian could book this movie and not be able to do it. I can’t remember prayer so hard in a long time! I guess God took pity, because Tyler Perry and Joss both compromised and Tah-Dah!!!!! Brian get to do EVERYTHING! I couldn’t be happier! Love ya, B!

To read more about Brian, check out this article published by Jewel Magazine:

http://www.brianwhiteonline.com/bio/news/pdfs/090301_JewelMagazine.pdf

I know, I know, I am behind again. After he’s been shooting for months, I am finally congratulating the talented, handsome and all around good guy, Jay Harrington on his most recent accomplishment; Ted Crisp on ABC’s new office comedy, Better off Ted.

Jay is hysterical as Ted, the senior vice-president of Research and Development at Veridian Dynamics. Jay has that dry sense of humor,
quick witted intelligence
and striking good-looks
that make him so perfect
to play a criminal investi-
gator, as he did on Fox’s,
The Inside, or a doctor as
he had done on ABC’s
Desperate Housewives
and Private Practice, or
as in this case, a top
executive in the crazy
world of R&D who leads
a team of the smartest
scientists in the world.

Of course, what is funny about the show is that Veridian tends to be immoral, unethical and occasionally pure evil. And sometimes Ted's drive to succeed at the company causes him to blur the line between right and wrong. Luckily Ted has his precocious seven-year-old daughter Rose to keep him on the right path. He has to raise Rose by himself because his wife left them to go build dung huts in Africa.

Just like Ted, Jay is handsome, charming and smart. Good at both comedy and drama, Jay has had a very busy and productive the last few years, and this year, in particular, looks to be even more so. While Jay has had notoriety with his role as Dr. Ron McCreadie on Desperate Housewives and Dr. Wyatt Lockhart on Private Practice, with this role, Jay has discovered a visibility that outshines any opportunity he has had to date. I have always been impressed with Jay’s ability to adjust his approach when given a note, without throwing away what he was doing that worked. I have always found him to be willing to try something else, while feeling clearly for himself what works for him. Jay is good guy, a strong actor and deserves all the success that comes his way, I just wish I got to see him more often! But I guess he’s better off Ted.

I gotta tell ya, Desi Lydic knows how to attend a dinner party! But besides that, hilarious Desi Lydic is about to shoot her new pilot, The Karensky’s, a multi-camera comedy about a daughter's return to the fold of her large, eccentric, ethnic family after her husband takes a job in her hometown. And I couldn’t be more happy for her. She has worked hard and stayed focused on the right things. Coaching Desi is always one of the highlights of my day...and my days are pretty darn good, so that’s saying something! To know miss Lydic is to love her and laugh with her! Desi’s “Bernadette Atwood” is sure to steal your heart, as she competes with her sister, played by Sasha Alexander (Yes Man, NCIS) for love and attention. The brilliant Gail Berman is executive producing this charming “Everyone Loves Raymond” style sit-com, along with Universal Media Studios. Mather Zickel (Rachel Getting Married) plays Desi’s brother-in-law.

Desi has also been keeping in fresh shooting “Fresh Takes”
Inspired by best-selling “chick-lit” author, Jane Green, "Fresh Takes" uses entertainment and humor to give viewers a look at three 20-something girlfriends as they put their everyday pressures in a fresh perspective. Using the budding micro-series TV format, "Fresh Takes" will broadcast three-minute episodes nationwide during "The Hills," MTV's No. 1 show for 20-something women, over a five-week period beginning March 24 (10 p.m. EDT / 9 p.m. CDT). The micro-series was created and produced by MindShare Entertainment and MTV.
Alicia Keys headlines the series, alongside up-and-coming actress Desi Lydic and Jessalyn Wanlim.
•	Alex (Alicia Keys): Fearless, fun and always falling in love, the stylish Alex works at a trendy music PR firm
Diane (Desi Lydic): Type A personality, she is focused and ambitious, although her friends urge her to loosen up.
Lizzie (Jessalyn Wanlim): The "lost" friend struggling to find who she is and what she wants to do with her life. . You can view all five episodes on www.dovegofresh.com as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Alicia and the entire cast. Episodes will also be available on www.dovefreshtakes.mtv.com. www.dovegofresh.com can be found on the new dove digital channel, www.dove.com, a consumer destination site that brings Campaign for Real Beauty and the Dove product portfolio to life for visitors.
I am convinced that Desi Lydic will be a very familiar name very soon! Congratulations, my girl, and keep up the good work! (See previous “Congrats” to Desi from Sept 21, ’06 entilitled, “Big Hearted Desi has Invaded!”)

Congratulations to my beautiful client Tricia Helfer! I was so excited when she e-mailed me on the first of April that she had signed a talent holding deal with the FOX network. As you can see, that turned out to be no April Fool’s prank!

Peter Liguori, the president of Fox Entertainment, made a special note of Tricia when she was cast last year, along with client Rachel Nichols, in the FOX drama pilot Them for director Jonathan Mostow; there she played a member of an alien scouting group living on Earth. The pilot was rolled over to this development season and ultimately terminated. She currently appears in the fourth and final season of Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi and will be seen on the big screen in the upcoming indie Walk All Over Me.
Clearly, Tricia will be in good hands once her run with Battlestar Galactica is over (filming will in all likelihood wrap up this month, either on Jul 10 or 12.) As part of her talent deal with Fox, Tricia will be appearing on USA’s terrific show, Burn Notice (with client China Chow) when it returns to the air this July (Fox produces the show). Tricia will return to Miami to shoot more Season 2 material for Burn Notice until October ‘08. She will be playing Michael's handler Carla, in the first 2 episodes of the season. Tricia will then return as Carla again in the series’ mid-season finale, episode 9. Carla will also be featured in some of the post-hiatus episodes, but which these episodes are is yet to be revealed. Since Carla is after Michael, it is unclear if she is good or bad. She may be the one who burned him, but then again, the show’s writers are clever.

Just as exciting is the news that another part of the FOX deal has Tricia soon be appearing in an exciting new show by producer J.J. Abrams with Lost writer/executive producer Jeff Pinkner as show-runner. Pinkner is, of course, no stranger to the Bad Robot family of series. In addition to writing and producing duties on Lost, he also worked with Abrams on seminal ABC series Alias.

The new show is called Fringe and has a real spooky, high intensity suspense feel to it. The shows' topic involves paranormal investigators looking into the mysterious landing of a jetliner with dead passengers and blood on the windows.

Interestingly, there will first be comic books put out on the market (the first hitting the stands on Aug. 27) by DC Comics, to be followed two weeks later by the premier of the highly anticipated TV series on Fox, Fringe - the two-hour premiere airs on Sept. 9.

And YES, I have saved the best for last...Tricia has been tapped to co-star on Fox's drama pilot, Inseparable, as Mason Wicks, a psychiatrist who evaluates suspects for the police department.

Inseparable, from ABC Studios and writer/exec producer Shaun Cassidy, is a modern-day Jekyll and Hyde tale about Justin/Clyde (Lloyd Owen), a partially paralyzed forensic psychiatrist with a split personality whose alter ego is a charismatic criminal.

I am so happy for you Tricia!! This could not have happened to a more hard-working, sweet, or talented actress. I hope you are enjoying this tiny break because after filming on Inseparable begins in August, it is only going to get bigger and better!

It is high time that I registered my many kudos for Rachel’s most recent accomplishments; not the least of which is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, the sequel of the hit movie of the same name. Those pants haven’t been the only thing traveling, Rachel has been quite busy herself. She was in Toronto starring in P2, then off to California to shoot Charlie Wilson’s War and eventually Star Trek, but not before she traveled to Louisiana to where she was in the horror film, For Sale by Owner, and then she flew off to Old Town, Prague, Czech Republic for parts of the film G. I. Joe. Of course there are all those European/North American publicity stops when you are in so many movies, as well. Can you say, “living out of a suitcase?”

While it is a lot of work, it is wonderful to be living out your dreams, and I am so thrilled for her. Congratulations, Rach, on all you are doing in your career and in your life. (She has also become engaged to Scott Stuber!)

Rachel has been having a lot of fun with embodying new and different looks for her movies of late. In Star Trek, Rachel plays an Orion cadet at Starfleet Academy, complete with green skin! (You may recall that Rachel has worked with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams before. She was on the last season of his show Alias. The connection is not lost on Nichols who has been reported as saying, “J.J.’s one of the most generous people I’ve ever met … He’s very, very loyal.” Clearly, that’s true.)

As a redhead in G. I . Joe, Rachel’s character Scarlett is a lean mean fighting machine! Out-gunning even the guys, Shana “Scarlett” O’Hara is a force to be reckoned with in Stephen Sommers‘ live-action adaptation. Ranked Master Sergeant, her weapon of choice is the crossbow and her specialty is counter intelligence. She may be tough on the outside, but she is vulnerable on the inside and has some deep seeded personal issues to work through. “Scarlett” will be the first female character in the GI Joe action figure line! (I’ve always said Rachel was a real doll!)

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 opens in theaters this month! Of course, Nichols wasn’t in the first “Sisterhood” movie, but in part 2 she plays a acting major friend of America Ferrera’s from Yale named Julia. While performing in a production at school of a “period piece”, Julia is a bit full of herself. Despite being the newcomer, Nichols had a great time on the set. Although America is younger, Rachel has said that she’s wise for her age and “a real gem.” I would say the same about Miss Nichols, personally.

For Sale By Owner puts Rachel back in the horror genre of her previous films, The Woods, The Amityville Horror and P2, her largest role to date. She plays Anna Farrier who gets involved with a place “for sale by owner”...um, I think it’s haunted! And for gosh sakes, Don’t Go Down the Basement!

Keep up the great work, Rachel!

So as not to be thwarted by a laptop, I once again extend my most heartfelt congratulations to my dear Brittany Daniel for her series regular role on the CW football drama, The Game. She is splendid as Kelly Pitts, the leader of the wives / girlfriends organization, “The Sunbeams”, and the beautiful, albeit ditzy wife of Jason Pitts, ball player for the fictional “San Diego Sabers.

Brittany, once again, I am so proud of you and honored to have coached you, and yes, let’s go pole dancing, you gifted, crazy, funny, brilliant girl!

Okay, so I am behind, but better late than never. CONGRATULATIONS to the beautiful, talented, China Chow for being added to the wonderful cast of the acclaimed drama, Burn Notice, now beginning its 2nd season on USA. China began working on the show in 2007 as the recurring character, Minh, who is one of the few friends left of “burned” spy Michael Westen played by Jeffery Donovan (Crossing Jordon, Hitch.) Adding China as a regular member of the cast is an acknowledgement of the added value she brings to the show, with her natural comic timing and compelling dramatic realism. This contract for China is much deserved and I couldn’t be more thrilled! (I am also excited that she will be working with my client Tricia Helfer, at least for a while, as Tricia is now recurring for an undisclosed number of episodes.)

China, of course, was first “discovered” in the comedy The Big Hit where she played the impish teenage daughter of a super-rich businessman who was kid-napped and held for ransom by Mark Wahlberg’s character.

China has been growing as an actress and expanding her horizons as a person ever since. I especially enjoyed coaching her on the feature film auditions for Head Over Heels and Spun because of her uncanny ability to stay connected and real but never take herself too seriously. I love China’s lightness. She is quirky and spunky, with a magnetic dark side that pulls you in rather than pushing you away. China, my dear, I wish you many seasons with this terrific show! You are a sweet girl and stand out actress!

(I was
a bit disappointed, myself.) Yes, a commercial for a fake TV
show...well...actually, a commercial for a brand of television
that was pretending to be a commercial for a new TV show.
Confused? So were the folks excitedly awaiting the new show
but unable to find what channel, night or time to tune in.

One blogger wrote: Deceptive viral marketing like this blows. Even if it was the best TV on the planet I'd not buy one now just because of this deceptive marketing.
Shrouded in secrecy at first, the project turned out specifically
to be an ad for the XCanvas Scarlett Television by LG
Electronics. (In the trailers it's the TV behind her when she's
doing the talk show.)

I am sure you have seen it by now, but just in case go to: www.scarletseries.tv.

Neither Natassia nor I had any idea while I was coaching
and putting her audition on tape, that the “David Nutter
Project” as it was called in the breakdowns, wasn’t a “real”
show. We were told that the audition scenes were from a
different script because the actual script was yet to be finished.
It was unusual, but not unheard of, so using the description of
the character Scarlet from the breakdowns, we did our best
with the material we were given. Apparently it worked well.
Natassia booked it (Natassia “Scarlet” Malthe appears as the
eponymous character, Scarlet) and she was thrilled, but told
me that I couldn’t put it out on my blog yet because there was a
secret about the show. I told her, “No problem,” as it usually
takes me months if not years to get around to updating my
website, clearly.

Mr. Nutter was “blown away” by the Norwegian/Asian beauty he The Insider Magazine. “As soon as the script was finished, I knew Natassia was meant to play Scarlet,” he says. (READ: The audition tape she made with Crystal Carson ROCKED!) “She glows with this mysterious beauty. She is flawless on the screen. There’s an instinctive beauty about her that you just can’t take your eyes off.”

Congratulations again, Natassia. Life is a wild ride! You never know what’s around the next bend. And isn’t it bliss?!
When we first met, Dylan explained to me that he was interested in booking a Soap Opera. He had screen-tested for “One Life to Live,” “Days of Our Lives,” “As The World Turns” and even, “My Network TV” telenovela, twice! (He actually won the role on that late night soap, but it was cancelled before they shot an episode) Together we tackled the challenge and the immediate results were a dream come true. He is now cast in the role of Chris Hughs, a returning character on the show. As such, Dylan has had a lot of history work to do, not to mention preparing each day for “Chris’s” current predicament. Luckily, Dylan loves a challenge and is now one of the hardest working actors in the Big Apple. Dylan and I have tried to work some sessions in when he flies back to Los Angeles, but like everyone else, I see I am going to have to tune-in to CBS if I am dying for Dylan.

She is at once articulate and artistic, as she takes us on a journey into this breathtaking adventure about two generations of Afghan people brought together by the adversity of war. Just as she does in Hosseini’s movie, The Kite Runner, Atossa carries us through the love, fear, compassion, violence, excitement, and hope of this currently relevant tale; only this time, using only her voice to do it.

Should we need more proof of the rich talent possessed by my client, Miss Leoni, the nomination of The Kite Runner in the 2008 Golden Globe’s “Best Foreign Film Category” is another testament to her craft. I couldn’t be more proud in wishing her more opportunities in 2008 to flourish and be prosperous as an actress, for we benefit from her good fortune.

I know this is going to be a wonderful year for her full of exciting projects.

What I really wanted to congratulate her on is the fact that Rachel has landed a role in a new movie directed by from a script written by Aaron Sorkin for a December 25, 2007 release. “Charlie Wilson's War” stars Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, with Rachel playing the role of Suzanne. This should be a block-buster of a movie, based on George Crile's book: "Charlie Wilson's War: The Extraordinary Story of the
Largest Covert Operation in History". As you might guess, it is a drama based on a Texas congressman, Charlie Wilson's covert dealings in Afghanistan, where his efforts to assist rebels in their war with the Soviets have some unforeseen and long-reaching effects. "War"is a Universal Pictures production which centers on the CIA's largest and most successful covert operation, the arming of the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan. Tom Hanks and his business partner Gary Goetzman are producing the film through Playtone, their production company. Congratulations, once again, my dear Rachel.

It is difficult to keep from waxing poetic when speaking about Brian White. He is solid. He is talented. He is loyal. He is intelligent. He is flexible. He is strong. He is humble. He is consistent. He is a gift.

I love our session together. He comes full, yet open. Together, we experience a creative synergy that could not come without these priceless qualities. For his hard work and open mind, he is rewarded with a deeper, higher, richer feel for the life of each character he creates-whether for an audition or for a part he has already earned.

I am very proud of Brian’s body of work (...I said, OF WORK...sheesh!) especially his recent “two weeks at number one at the box office” for “Stomp the Yard”! This is Brian’s most
recent film role. I recommend you see
this unique musical-drama, where
Brian not only displays his acting talets
but his incredible dance ability, as well.
“Stomp the Yard” is about a young man
who, after the death of his brother, is
sent to live in Atlanta where he is
introduced to college and fraternity life.
Brian White plays Sylvester, the leader
of the Theta Nu fraternity. (And I must add
a heart-felt thank-you to Brian for the
Premier and after-party invitations--I had
a blast! It was an honor to be included.)

Besides this successful film, I am just as
thrilled for Brian that he is getting such
wonderful, and well deserved feed-
-back this pilot season, when
after auditioning for 4 pilots, including
“The Apostle”, “Superior Courtships” and “Philadelphia General”, Brian had a screen test for every one, and was subsequently offered roles in each! He chose to accept the character of Kyle Lane opposite Gabrielle Union in ABC's “Football Wives”. From Bryan Singer, the show is a U.S. version of the popular British soap focusing on wives of professional football players. It looks like such a fun show and Brian is excited about working again with his co-star from “Daddy’s Little Girl”, Ms. Union.

For those of you who don’t know, Brian met Gabrielle on this reverse-Cinderella tale, “Daddy’s Little Girl” which will be coming out in theaters this week -- on Valentine’s Day, to be exact. From Lions Gate Productions and Director/Writer, Tyler Perry, the movie centers on a successful attorney (Union) who falls in love with a financially challenged mechanic (Elba) who is a single father of three children. Brian co-stars as Christopher, Union’s blind date, or as Brian puts it, “ Gabrielle kisses a lot of frogs <in this movie> before she meets her prince, and I am the chief frog.”

As long as we are discussing Brian’s Feature Film resume, let’s not forget the action packed Dungeon Siege Tale, “In the Name of the King” coming to theaters August 2007. This film is a cinematic adaptation of the video game Dungeon Siege. Uwe Boll's fantasy adventure film stars Jason Statham as Farmer, a simple man from the
Kingdom of Ehb who sets out to rescue his kidnapped wife (Claire Forlani) from the power hungry Gallian (Ray Liotta) and save his King (Burt Reynolds). Brian stars alongside Jason Statham in this fantasy-adventure epic.

Then there is the DVD from Sony/Screen Gems just released on May 1, 2007, “Motives 2: Brothers Keeper”.
Brothers Keeper is an edgy thriller that centers around Brian White as Donovan Cook, a highly educated and successful business tycoon who becomes entangled in estranged brother, Emory Simms’ illicit past. Brian stars opposite Vivica Fox, and the cast includes Shemar Moore, Sharon Leal, Drew Sidora, William L. Johnson and Joe Torry.

Nor ought we forget, The Game Plan to be released, October 5, 2007 from Buena Vista. In this Disney feature, An NFL quarterback (The Rock) living the bachelor lifestyle discovers that he has a 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Brian co-stars as Webber, a player on The Rock’s team, alongside an all-star cast including, Morris Chestnut, Roselyn Sanchez, Kyra Sedgwick, Gordon Clapp, and Madison Pettis.

So, as you can clearly see, Brian has been quite busy. This is nothing new for him. You may go back into my archives to recall that he began acting on the small screen, displaying a strong presence in a number of television series such as “Moesha”, MTV's “Spyder Games”, UPN's comedy, “Second Time Around”, but most notably, as Detective Tavon Garris on the award-winning FX crime drama, “The Shield”.

You also may recall my gushing about how wonderful Brian was in Tom Bezucha's feature film, “The Family Stone,” opposite an all-star cast, and/or how great he was in Rian Johnson's Independent Spirit Award-nominated film, “Brick” and finally how interersting he was in “DOA: Dead or Alive”, the movie adaptation of the best-selling video game series, directed by Corey Yuen (The Transporter). I am sure these current projects will be no different. Brian White is definitely a shooting star!

But we won’t have to travel ro Europe to see Carolina as "Perfume” will be distributed domestically by Steven Spielberg's company Dreamworks SKG .

Carolina, born in Chile and mostly living in Germany (except when she is here coaching with your’s truly!) is used to shooting in exotic locations, and this production shot at locations near Barcelona and the South of France as well as at Munich's Bavaria Film Studios.

"Perfume" is a terrifying story of murder and obsession set in 18th-century France. It is about a man, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, who has a unique talent for discerning the scents and smells that swirl around him, which he uses to create the world's finest perfumes. Born lacking any ability to smell, he teaches himself to have an incomparable sense of smell, and then develops an obsession with capturing the irresistible but elusive aroma of young womanhood and turning it into the ultimate perfume. However, in attempting to achieve his goal, he becomes a serial killer of 12 young girls. Panic breaks out as people rush to protect their daughters, while an unrepentant and unrelenting Grenouille still lacks the final ingredient to complete his quest.

The publicity-shy author of the book, who lives in isolation in Munich, had turned down offers from the likes of such Hollywood luminaries as Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott and Milos Forman.

The German novel, translated into 42 languages, has posted worldwide sales of more than 12 million copies. I can’t wait to see it on the big screen!
You may remember Julie as Sabrina Wright on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" or from her dual episodes of UPN’s “Eve”, but more likely as the unfortunately named, Miss Gliterist on ABC’s “Boston Public”. Well, multi-talented, Julie Mintz, deserves a standing ovation for her lasted creative venture. She has garnered a recurring role on ABC’s “What about Brian”, and not only is she acting, but she is SINGING HER OWN SONG and accompanying herself on GUITAR!

This was not the easiest of feats, Julie has only been playing the guitar for about a year. She’s always loved to sing but only for people she trusts greatly or doesn’t know at all. I guess the show fell under the latter category, but still... Good Job, Julie!

It’s probably obvious by now, talented Miss Julie plays the part of a singer/songwriter on “What About Brian”. Though the character was written to play a cover song, the producers heard her perform her original song “Over” in the audition room, and three days later she was in the studio recording an acoustic version to be heard on the show this fall!

I have plans of playing her songs on my myspace.com site, as I absolutely LOVE her voice. (I’ve just gotta get her to agree) She’s got this forlorn fairy maiden voice of a Natalie Merchant, in my opinion. Teary emerald-eyed troubadour Julie flirts with piano-playing and song-writing, as well as, “picking at the guitar” whenever acting and/or insomnia might begin to take its toll. This sweet and beautiful actress, who can play the part of a songstress in a single beat of her enormous heart, is particularly drawn to the honesty and poeticism of artists such as Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin, but says she wants to play like Maybell Carter. Not bad aspirations.

Believe me, you’re gonna wanna look for an EP from Julie Mintz available this fall...or just turn on you TV. Julie has also recently wrapped the made for TV movie “Backward Glances”. Backward or forward, she’s lookin’ hot!

She is fearless in everything she does. She trusts her body to do what she asks, she puts in long hours of hard work preparing for whatever stunt she may be attempting--that kind of strength, dedication and flexibility translates immediately to her work as an actress. As many directors have noticed, athletic ability brings confidence and a belief in yourself that helps you conquer a multitude of life's challenges...including those of a make-believe life. So was the experience for client Jessie Graff, who recently booked the role of Karen,in the feature film,”Hard Sand” starring Jennifer Peo (“Distorted”). The film takes us through the many hard-won challenges of following your dreams; and in this case, that dream is to win the gold medal in volleyball at the Olympics. As Karen, Jessie has taken on a life that she understands in theory, but there was much work to do to own and perform the specifics. Never having played volleyball, Jessie worked with a champion volleyball coach for hours a day in order to be believable as an Olympian competitor. This made her not only good at volleyball, but at owning the pain and challenges of the game. As we delved into the history that brought “Karen” to make the decisions that she does in the film, Jess no longer worried about how to “act” the role, but could simply live it.

I give a very proud salute to athletic Jessie Graff! She is a new and favorite client, as she is here from my home state of Nebraska. She was fearless in our first session together, and it produced her first acting role in a feature film in Los Angeles...we plan on making it a pattern!

Kudos to Kate for starring in “Last Chance Cafe” for Lifetime, which wraps this month. It’s exciting to be privy to watching her explore new ground, now that she has concluded 2 seasons of portraying sexy scoundrel, Ellen Tigh on Battlestar Galatica (see article below).

Kate’s latest venture into the world of make-believe takes us on a journey of love, lost and gained. After uncovering evidence that her stepfather was murdered by a ring of corrupt cops, Kate’s brave character Hallie Boyer must flee with her young daughter (played by Jessica Amlee of “My Life Without Me”) or risk being silenced herself.
In an effort to hide from her ex-husband, who is the city’s district attorney and appears implicated in the murder, she “disappears” into a small farming town. With nowhere to go for help or money, she is hired by Madge Beardsley (played by 4400’s Samantha Farris) as a fry-cook in the town’s hang-out--it’s only cafe.
Despite her mistrust of men and her current need for secrecy, Hallie slowly discloses her predicament and reveals her fears to Chance Coulter (Kevin Sorbo ”Walking Tall”). In spite of the danger following her, Hallie finds the faith to fall in love, not just with this rugged ranch owner, but with an entire town, and new way of life.

Like the commanding characters she plays, Kate Vernon deserves all the success that comes her way. Her enormous talent, eminent beauty, never resting work ethic and positive energy unite to create a synergy that is unstoppable. Even Hollywood can’t resist a combination like that!

Her incredible comedic timing and improv skills were particularly valued while playing Gryffyn Greene on “Invasion Iowa” because of it’s unscripted nature. The show, as you probably know, centered around a Hollywood film production company descending upon an unsuspecting midwestern town.

Darling Desi has had many a memorable guest appearance on shows such as “CSI; NY”, “What I Like About You”, “Complete Savages”, “Pepper Dennis”, and “Mind of Mencia”. You can watch for her starring in the upcoming comedy films “Out At The Wedding”, “Screw Cupid”, and “Stand Up”.

Having a sense of humor sure helps in this funny little town we all work in. And Desi’s got all the help she needs to take Hollywood by storm. The girl’s a Los Angeles triple threat; Looks, Brains, & Comic Ability! I know from our sessions together how serious she is about her craft, regardless, delightful Desi Lydic never fails to make me smile...and laugh!

Liana Liberato was 10 when I made her cry...she was working on a series for FOX-TV and the director was instructing her to “be sadder, be sadder...” but somehow that direction wasn’t producing the desired results. Her mother, Rhondelle, was willing to give me some “triggers”; details of her real life that I could surprise her with and tweek just right so that they could break Liana’s heart if she were able to suspend disbelieve and “use them”. She did, they did, and the director was happy; as was Liana!

Behind schedule as usual, I am finally writing to announce that this talented little actress, now 11, was featured on the cover of the New York Times Magazine, June 4th issue.

The Times was doing an article on child actors and followed Liana and a few other such kids around for a couple of months. They chronicled the ups and downs of being a child with acting ambitions, following her to her “Cold Case” audition (which she booked!) and around town. Pretty heady stuff for one so young, but fortunately she has wonderfully supportive parents who also work hard to keep her feet on the ground...lucky girl.

I would also like to congratulate Liana on her latest jobs including “CSI:” Miami” and the job she just finished shooting, (Finally, I’ll be current on something) “The Last Sin Eater”

I’ll try to be more timely with my updates for this talented schoolgirl, for there will be many as time, as well as talent, is on her side.
Congratulations to client Sunny Mabrey for her role as stewardess Tiffany Engelhard in the movie sensation, “Snakes on a Plane”. She is beautiful, quirky, and caring--everything you’d want if you were on a plane with snakes...or watching one.

If you haven’t heard about this movie, it’s time to come out of your Mom’s basement. Basically, a crate-full of deadly snakes gets loose when the plane is 30,000 feet in the air, the peak of which is FBI agent Neville Flynn, played by Samuel L Jackson screaming, “I want these Mutherfucking Snakes off this Mutherfucking Plane!” while the audience gives the line a standing ovation!
If you want to see this movie in the best possible environment, see it after a few beers with as many of your friends as you can muster. The only better way to view it is if an Airline had special SNAKES ON A PLANE flight – where you could see the film with turbulence!

And get ready, because it lives up to the hype; You’re gonna get lovely Sunny Mabrey and SNAKES on a plane!!
My heart is full of love and pride for my special client, Atossa Leoni. The best selling book, “The Kite Runner” has been budgeted for for $20 million by MacDonald/Parkes Productions, who brought us such block busters as “Men in Black” and “Just like Heaven”, and will be distributed by Dreamworks SKG. Atossa has won the female lead!

I know Atossa will bring much believability to the role of Amir’s wife, Soraya, because of her diligent and constant search for truth in her work. I have enjoyed assisting her in the depth of research she has committed to the story, and the vast history that she has invented for her role. “The Kite Runner”

The film’s protagonist goes back to Afghanistan, which is ruled by the Taliban, to atone for a sin he had committed as a boy. By rescuing a child he had never met, he rescues himself from damnation. His wife, Soraya, having been damned herself for past indiscretions, reluctantly supports him and in doing so saves her own soul.

This timely film is due out in late 2007, and not a moment too soon! Congratulations, Atossa! You honor your heritage with your efforts while bringing understanding to those who are open to receive it.

When mischievous teenaged cousins Bo and Luke are arrested and paroled to the care of their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson) in Hazzard, it means acting fun for April!

April was referred to me by client Brian White when they met and worked together on “The Shield”. I always like to show my appreciation for referrals; please let me know if you have sent a new face my way! (I have a little something for ya!)

In case you can’t remember how you know April, you probably caught a glimpse of her on “Entourage”. (Or maybe you’re a game-show type and spotted her as the model on “Deal or No Deal”) Don’t worry if ya missed it though, you can soon see her in “Mission Impossible 3“ and then see a whole lot more of her in “The Name of the Game” (she plays a student exploring London's underground sex clubs.) Watch for this rising star, her work is comparable to her beauty.

Congratulations on “Dukes of Hazzard”, April, I am thrilled for you. How better for a Daisy to bloom than in April?!!

The responses to her auditions have been overwhelmingly positive, resulting in feedback so gushing it verges on embarrassing, callbacks a plenty and bookings for both now and in the future...”saving her for a better role, etc...”.

After viewing one of the auditions Natassia and I put on tape, her agents once again became uber-energized and have been promoting her to the powers-that-be in a way she rightfully deserves, sending the town a-buzzing!

When her two latest movies premier this fall, followed by the CSI;Miami, a SciFi Channel movie, and then closely by two more major motion pictures in the new year, and untold other projects; Natassia will soon be even more sought after.

Her initial film is the highly anticipated bank-robbery film, “Chaos” starring Wesley Snipes as a criminal mastermind. Two cops are partnered up and must try to uncover how five bank robbers escaped from a bank during a heist. This film makes “The Inside Man” seem inside-out! Written and shot before the above mentioned Spike Lee movie, “Chaos” is THE smart bank heist flick to see! It is a wonderfully entertaining movie, action packed with smooth pacing and cerebral plot twists. Look for it in theatres August 16th.

Natassia will then be seen in the movie adaptation of the best selling video game series Dead or Alive. On August 25, this latest fighting game will head for theaters with “DOA: Dead or Alive,” based on Tecmo's long running series. Natassia stars with my fabulous client Brian White (see blog on Mr. White) along with Jaime Pressly and Eric Roberts.

Natassia truly enjoyed shooting this film primarily because of the months of fight training. Ultimately, the fights are all very convincing and brilliantly executed by a great ensemble of beautiful and talented women. This movie is a perfect metaphor for girl power! Predictably, one of the really standout elements of the film for viewers will be Natassia’s performance. In fact, producer Mark A Altman says that “Natassia Malthe is threatening and enigmatic as Ayane. “In fact,” he continues, “I was such a fan that we used her in our recent SciFi Channel film, Dead & Deader, in which she plays Dr. Boyce, alongside Dean Cain and Susan Ward and is wonderful!”

For those of you in the know, “Dead & Deader,” pitched as “48 Hours” meets “Blade”, is an comedic horror action-adventure premiering in October.

“Sex and Death 101” written and directed by Daniel Waters (Heathers) and starring Winona Ryder is the first indie Cary Brokaw's of Avenue Pictures has done in some time. Brokaw said, "I fell in love with the script -- it's smart, inventive and incredibly funny. It succeeds in being really funny, provocative and completely unpredictable, which for a romantic comedy is no small feat." The story follows a man (Simon Baker) whose life is upended by a mysterious e-mail containing the 101 names of every woman he has had sex with and, eerily, every woman he will have sex with in the future, including Bambi played by Natassia Malthe.

We mustn’t forget Hollywood’s favorite genre for young audiences, the horror flick. Natassia stars as a beautiful werewolf in, “Skinwalkers”. According to Stan Winston, whose Stan Winston Studios oversaw creature effects for the upcoming werewolf film “Skinwalkers, "It's small, and it’'s emotional and ... suspenseful and ... action-packed, and it is definitely, definitely about werewolves." The story is about a 12 year old boy caught between one clan of werewolves happy to feed on humans, and another clan who believes they're cursed and are trying to find a way to become fully human again. Prophesy holds that this boy will cure them of their burden, the catch is he has to live until his 13th birthday to do so. Natassia is striking, strong and sexy. “Skinwalkers”, is slated for theatrical release April 2007.

I look forward to Natassia finishing her work on CSI; Miami so that we can get on to the next game of “let’s pretend”! I love to have working clients with the small exception that I miss them...

P2 might stand for Plenty 2 do for Rachel Nichols. Rachel stars with Wes Bentley in this stalker thriller that centers on a corporate climber (Nichols) who gets stuck working late on Christmas Eve and finds herself the target of an unhinged security guard (Bentley). With no help in sight, she must overcome physical and psychological challenges to survive. Franck Khalfoun, who also helped co-write the script, will make his directorial debut on P2; shooting will begin shortly for a 2007 release.

Rod Lurie knows a good thing when he sees it. He wisely cast Rachel in two episodes of his acclaimed television series, “Line of Fire” and now has decided to offer her a role in his latest film, “Resurrecting the Champ” about a reporter who searches and finds a once great boxer, only to be duped by an impostor.
Meanwhile, I am proud to say that in it’s wisdom the MTV Movie Awards had
nominated Rachel
for the award for
"Best Frightened
Performance" for
her playful
performance in
“Amityville Horror!”
I must admit working
with her on this role
was a scream!! And
Win or lose, Rachel
is still the number
one reason to see
this film. I am thrilled for Rachel as she continues to gain accolades for her ever growing body of work. Please look in the blogs below for more about one of my very favorite clients, Ms. Nichols.
Growing up in New York City and a mainstay of city theaters, museums and galleries at a very young age, Andrew found himself amongst many of the brightest and most unique artists of a generation.

At 15, he became a member of experimental repertory company and began acting in the theatre. Later, balancing his studies with at New York University with his professional acting work and a passion for writing, Andrew began to explore time and its effects on emotion and performance. Recognizing that writing and acting were reflections of life, he explored ways in which to study life itself. But life was liquid, constantly in motion, and he needed to capture it to slow it down or stop it altogether- only then could he truly investigate a singular moment’s complexity and richness... Naturally, this lead Andrew to photography, and it quickly became one of the corner stones of his creativity.

AFRICANA MMVI is a journey into a space where man and beast co-exist as they have for millennia. Unencumbered by the trappings of contemporary civilization, the remote locales of Samburu, Masai Mara, Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti offer a unique glimpse of the past and perhaps a vision into the future. These photographs reflect a distant and humbling journey both physical and otherwise- a historical record that is constantly evolving.

Andrew is an actor with passion who isn’t content until he is fully self expressed in whatever medium he chooses. He attacks life with a passion that is exhilarating to be around. I loved his photographs and I love to be his acting coach.

Congratulations to Brittany who just wrapped her role as Carly Phillips in the NBC pilot Community Service. Always in demand , Brittnay still managed to find time to shoot this pilot, even though her schedule was tight, as she was already hired to play Kimberly in Neal Brennan’s teen spoof film, Totally Awesome and booked to fly to Canada where busy Brittany was shooting the new Wayans brothers movie, Little Man. While she waits to hear the good news from NBC about Community Service getting picked-up (Fingers crossed!) I hope she slows down to count her blessings. Nobody deserves it more that this funny, smart, angel of an actress, Brittany Daniel.

Brittany’s character, Carly, is the love interest of Will Shepard, played by comic, Jay Mohr. The show begins with Will Shepard, a prominent New York City real estate agent, losing it all, his job, his money, and his pride. So, he decides to go to the small Ohio town where he can find Brittany’s character], the only woman he has ever loved. Unfortunately, she’s engaged to be married. To make matters worse, Will gets into an altercation with a local police officer who just happens to be Carly’s fiance. Will is sentenced to 500 hours of community service in this town.

Like the Wayans brothers’ feature White Chicks that featured Brittany as Megan Vandergeld, Little Man is another chance for Brittany to stretch her comedy legs. Shawn Wayans plays a wannabe dad who mistakes a vertically challenged criminal on the run (Marlon Wayans) as his newly adopted son.

Totally Awesome is a spoof of typical 1980's teen movies. The idea is that VH1 found a "long-lost", never-released teen film made in the 1980's and decided to air it now in 2006; thus it is loaded with the typical formula, clichés, bad fashions, and stereotypical characters found in those movies and makes fun of them.

If you loved Brittany in Joe Dirt they way I did, you are going to adore her in the three comedies of 2006...and counting!
Funny, funny client, Ross Patterson is no longer just the new guy...and he’s laughing all the way to the bank! Ross has a unique sense of comedy that makes our coaching sessions together the highlight of my day. What I adore about Ross is his quirky, crazy, take on the world and how that translates into his characters. Ross gives himself permission to play; to have thoughts, not dictated directly from the script, but that spontaneously emerge from it when filtered through his personality, timing, wit and temperament. He gives any director (or coach, for that matter) unexpected options that work in a way unforeseen by anyone else. Following his passion and sticking to his vision relentlessly, he now has his own MTV series, “The Barnes Brothers”, in production, and is filming the movie (“7/10 Split”) he scripted. Oh yeah, he is starring in it also...
Tara Reid plays his girlfriend, and Judd Nelson, Rachel Hunter and Michael Madsen are also cast. You’ll love the movie, you’ll laugh ‘til boogers come out of your nose at the MTV show, and you’ll be calling Ross the funniest guy in this wood we call Holly. In between shooting days, Ross is already writing his next feature film. Way to pick up that spare, Ross Vegas!

How lucky I am to be surrounded in my life by such talent. Tricia’s abilities grow by the minute. She has an imaginative fantasy life and with it, can transform herself in an instant. She is a pleasure to work with and a wonder to watch.

Before we met, this beautiful client worked as a correspondent reporter for Canada's "Ooh La La" Fashion Television. She moved to Los Angeles in 2002 where she met began training at the Margie Haber Studios and quickly landed the role of 'Sarah,' in the two-hour premiere of the Showtime series, "Jeremiah." I’ll never forget the "C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation," in which Tricia guest starred as a model who tries to cut off her own face. Tricia also played the lead role of 'Eva' in the independent feature "White Rush."

In 2003, I enjoyed working with Tricia as she prepared to play real life model/actress Farrah in ‘Farrah Fawcett’ in the “Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie’s Angels” on NBC.

All of the work Tricia does is exciting, compelling and imaginative, however, the most fun I’ve had coaching Tricia was, and still is, for the character of Cylon “Number six”. She starred in the Scifi miniseries “Battlestar Galactica” originally in 2003, then reprised her role of ‘Number Six’ in the first, second and now third season of “Battlestar Galactica.” (and counting!)

Tricia had the lead role in the independent feature “Mem(o)re” opposite Dennis Hopper, the guest lead role of ‘Janis’ on the TV series “The Collector”. She shot the Canadian feature/documentary, “The Green Chain.” And most recently, Tricia literally has a beautiful mind in “The Genius Club” and thrills us in the thriller, “Spiral”. Tricia Helfer is a blast to work with and her talents know no bounds! Number 6 is a misnomer, she is definitely Number One!!

AND SO IS SHE! Congratulations to Kate Vernon who is playing Ellen Tigh and has been for 10 exciting episodes throughout the last two seasons on Battlestar Galactica! Kate has played Colonel Tigh's estranged wife as a beautiful, scheming and flirty lush who is loyal only to her sense of fun! I know she is delighted to play these next episodes because the storyline is such that it allows her to further flesh out her character in an unexpected way...sorry, can’t give too much away here, as the shows have yet to air.

When I think of Kate one word comes to mind, HEART. She endows every character she plays with love, and thus brings a three-dimensionality to even the likes of Ellen Tigh!

Kate Vernon was born in Canada to character actor John Vernon and former actress and model Nancy West. She first became well known for a role on the very popular 80s soap opera, Falcon Crest. Soon after that, many other TV and film roles followed including: Pretty in Pink where she played the bitchy blonde, "Benny", and then Spike Lee's Malcolm X, where she locked lips with Denzel Washington. Kate was memorable last year in her two episodes of “The Reunion” playing Brenda Moretti, which she somehow managed to fit in while flying to Canada to shoot Battelstar, then back to the States for the feature film, “Confession”, ABC’s “The school of life” and Hallmark Entertainment’s “The Family Plan.” She is truly a talented actress, a caring mother and a terrific human being. I look forward with enthusiasm to coaching her on the next exciting installment of her ever-growing career. ...Stay tuned!
His major film credits include “Mr. 3000” (starring opposite Bernie Mac) in which he was absolutely flawless as the cocky young ballplayer; “The Family Stone” (starring with Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams, and Claire Danes) where Brian is absolutely believable as a devoted gay man in a loving relationship; Uwe Boll's forthcoming “Dungeon Siege” should prove to be a powerful piece for Brian; along with the upcoming film “DOA: Dead or Alive”. Brian has also starred in such independent films as “Ways of the Flesh” (opposite Zoe Saldana) and “Me & Mrs. Jones” (opposite Kim Fields).

I am impressed with the way Brian has been focused on studying the craft. He never ceases to throw himself completely into every role he undertakes, whether for an audition or after he’s already booked it. His stated goal is to seek out roles with which he feels a strong personal connection and sees some social significance, and it’s clear that he connects to his passion in every choice he makes. Brian says, “Ideally, my work will inspire discussion among it’s (the projects) viewing audience. My promise to myself-- whether the platform be film, TV or theater, is to attempt to seek out material that is challenging: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.” That commitment is part of what makes Brian such a stand out actor to work with as an acting coach.
Since graduating from Dartmouth College, he has played both professional football (NFL) and lacrosse (NLL); earned his certifications as a licensed stockbroker (series 6, 7, 63, 65); and co-founded the professional dance company/community youth outreach organization Phunk Phenomenon Urban Dance Theater.

Brian's acting career began when he was cast in a national television commercial. A recurring role on the television series Moesha followed, as did a regular role on the series Spyder Games. More recently, he recurred for two seasons on the award-winning The Shield; and was a series regular on Second Time Around. In addition to his acting career, Brian works as an independent film producer with film finance company Bull's Eye Entertainment. I am both thrilled and awed by his drive and success, which are matched only by his loyalty and integrity as a human being. --Plus, ya gotta love a guy who can dance!

Alias has returned for it’s final season and client Rachel Nichols is ready to rock! Anyone following Rachel’s career better have lots of time on their hands, as she is sure to be on Hollywood’s most-wanted list, with an Oscar impatiently waiting in the wings for the right role to catapult this talented beauty into her rightful place. Rachel has come so far since her first audition, which was for the role of a restaurant hostess in a 2002 episode of Sex and the City, and, of course, she got it. She is definitely a serious Hollywood player since she starred in the 2005 FOX series “The Inside”, guided by
exec. producer, the
incredible, Tim Minear,
who hired Crystal Carson
to coach on the show,
and said of Rachel,
“She's a star in the
making, I feel. And
an unspoiled delight..."
The show echoed
Silence of the Lambs, and Rachel along with co-star Peter Coyote, received generally favorable marks from critics. Mr. Coyote said of Crystal, “As a coach, she is quite astute.” Actor Jay Harrington also declared his thanks for Crystal’s work with him. Rachel gushes that Crystal is”...[her] coach, [her] inspiration, [her] teacher, [her] most cherished of friends...[she is] my everything...and, for all these things, I cannot possibly thank [her] enough.”

I cannot possibly thank Rachel Nichols enough for the joy, the love and the satisfaction she gives me as an acting coach. There is nothing I would rather do than spend time with her developing a character, inventing an imaginary history or shooting the shit. She is a beauty on the inside as well as the outside. I grow as much as she does in our sessions and I am honored to be a part of her journey.

Rachel has also been seen in the television series Line of Fire, plus the 2005 horror movies The Amityville Horror and The Woods.

Nichols on Alias
Nichols now plays Rachel Gibson on Alias, a computer expert. Nichols' character was created as a possible replacement for series star Jennifer Garner's Sydney, had the actress chosen to leave the show or scale back her involvement in the series before it wrapped.

Trivia
•	Is 5'10" (1.78 m) tall, one inch taller than Alias co-star Jennifer Garner
•	Eye Color: Blue-Gray
•	Graduated from Columbia University with a double major in math and economics.
•	Was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2005, for her "Choice Movie Scream Scene" in The Amityville Horror
•	Has appeared in numerous magazines including Maxim
•	Was ranked #28 (2003) in Maxim's 100 Sexiest Women
	•	Yahoo! Model of the Month (September 2000)
•	Is given "Special Thanks" status in the credits of the 2005 movie The Outdoorsmen: Blood, Sweat & Beers
• Rachel has beauty, brains, and since Alias, brawn!
And with them, she is Kicking Butt!!!
