Last Christmas season I was fly fishing with my son Barry on the Rio Penasco. A small spring creek in New Mexico about a three hours North of El Paso. This year he is in Korea.... his younger brother Bryan is still in Iraq.... I find myself returning to memories of times spent with them often .... I never realized that the moments we spent together in the outdoors would be the memories that are most comforting to me .... my prayer, and Christmas wish is for many more in the years to come...
The first time I ever took them both on fishing adventure... Barry was around 8 or 9 years old , Bryan was around 4 or 5... We were going crappie fishing to a secret spot I couldn’t remember how to find... we walked and walked that day... and for two little guys they both did great... we didn’t catch a fish, and I’m surprised I ever got them to go fishing with me again.... but the memory of that day still sings a sweet song of remembrance to me... and brings hope for other days to come......
Barry casting to trout on the Rio Penasco last December ..... on the Charlie Mulcock Ranch. Charlie was a great host and has become a good friend.... thanks for the great memories Charlie.... I have put a link to his Ranch in the links section
On the way home from fishing we hit a snow storm in the mountains ... heres a quick film clip of what it looked like... I was starting to wonder if we were going to make it. We caught trout on BWO dry flies in the snow that day.... another great memory.
