Bill Drummond grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, where he began watching birds in his back yard at an early age. A master's degree program brought him to the Boston area, where he has lived ever since. He has been a member of the Brookline Bird Club for 32 years and he was an officer for 24.

From September to June Bill teaches math at Andover High School, using his school vacations for his birding adventures. Bill's other interests are railroads and sports, especially baseball.

"As a young teacher short on money, but with energy and enthusiasm, I started out to build my North American Bird List using the Lane's Birding Guides. I travelled every loop in the original set of guides finding many birds and visiting some wonderful birding areas. Along the way I made many friends and learned how to find the birds most wanted by serious birders. In 1986, I decided to share what I had learned with my friends and other birders.

Crossbills Birding

Each year I lead 3-4 trips during my school vacations. Destinations have included: Florida and the Dry Tortugas, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, North Dakota, North Carolina, Texas, Alaska, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Michigan, Churchill Manitoba, and Bathurst Inlet in Nunavuk Canada.

My trips are designed for birders who want to maximize the time spent birding. To keep the costs reasonable, we share rental cars and stay in comfortable (not fancy) motels. Each person orders and pays for his own meals, keeping it simple and allowing everyone to follow their own diets.

While I can't promise you every bird, I do promise a good time. Some of my clients have taken every trip offered and have even repeated some."
