cricket desmarais is an award-winning writer, certified u.s. coast guard master captain, image collector & performance artist based out of key west, florida.  an m.f.a. creative writing graduate from n.y.u., she transforms her talents & passions into coastal & cultural anthropology, exploring with & assisting marine-based businesses & outreach programs while documenting her travel experiences for local & national publications. she is the creative director of agentSea studios, a media & consulting firm for island businesses, events & lifestyles. 


in key west, she leads children’s dance classes & adult writing workshops, edits a literary arts journal, performs in theatre venues throughout the island & works on various mixed media projects, including hosting a parenting radio show on KONK AM, posting blogs for parents and creative types and making things whenever possible.


Her latest writing projects include the completion of a historic novel, a book about the 101 uses of coconut oil & a series of children’s stories (Very Tall Tales),  using the island’s creatures & characters to help illustrate some of life’s little lessons.
