Welcome: For some time now, my interests have been concentrated in perceptually based painting and drawing.  I paint still lives, interiors, and landscapes from my everyday experience.  For me, the process of painting is a means of reflecting on and coming to know the world around me.  I see the subjects that I choose to paint as being defined by a specific quality of light and atmosphere.  My goal is to capture that quality of light and atmosphere.  Often this task can take me many months; over the course of this lenghty investigation, the subjects of my paintings and drawings can go through many changes. For example, over the course of painting an interior, the space is constantly in flux.  Objects and people come and go in that space, and these changes are incorporated into my work.  Light however is the constant, it gives structure to the investigation.  It is my hope that in the end, my paintings can reflect both the time which passed throughout the working process, as well as the subject which I chose to portray.
