A bit of history

I learned the beginnings of my woodworking skills in my grandfather’s workshop where I can remember a very tall workbench (I was much shorter then), lots of hand tools and a few machines. I don’t know if he actually ever built anything, but I loved being there with him being allowed to play at creating and building while being praised every step of the way.

He wanted sons and grandsons and got 2 daughters and 5 granddaughters before a grandson arrived. By then his workshop was a changed place and so was I - a fledging adult. I earned very little money teaching school and so built much of my own furniture over the years - none of it very good, but the love of the wood was always present.

Life brought me to New Mexico and a return to woodworking through a carving class at the Santa Fe Community College Fine Woodworking Program and a new level of woodworking. Many years later I am still learning and creating.
