A Full-Time Graduate Assistantship in Bassoon position is open starting Spring or Fall 2009. Please contact me for more information if you have any questions or are interested in applying! Only MM and DMA applicants will be considered. Includes Graduate Woodwind Quintet, Bassoon Studio (technique classes, assisting in lessons), other duties depending on candidate’s qualifications and expertise. Full-time GAs receive medical benefits.
Those interested in auditioning to be Sooner Bassooners must apply to the University and the School of Music. [Click to go to the respective site for application information and to get application forms] The Audition Committee consists of members of the Woodwind Faculty. Music should be chosen to represent lyrical expression, technique, and articulation for anyone wanting to enter the undergraduate programs.
Students who have studied for less than two years may only be admitted into the bassoon studio on a Conditional basis and will be re-evaluated at the semester final for full admittance to the School of Music. Scholarships in bassoon will only be considered for students who are fully admitted into the BM, BMA, or BME degree programs.
Repertoire for graduate entrance must represent Baroque style (including ornamentation), Classic/Romantic, and 20th-21st Century non-tonal music, as well as three standard orchestra excerpts (your choice); the total time of music is 30 minutes and a pianist must be used. [Graduates who do not have 30 minutes of music and a pianist, or who audition by tape/CD, will perform a 30 minute audition within the first 30 days of their conditional acceptance into the graduate program.]
