Sudan Mission Trip Prayer Guide
Tuesday, March 10
The first members of the Mission Team depart for Wudu town, Kajo Keji County, Central Equatoria Province, South Sudan. Joseph Dumba, John Hays, and Wayne Naro will have final meetings with the Anglican Bishop, Anthony Poggo, and other church leaders to make sure all details have been arranged. John Hays will begin work on the water purification system at the Ecumenical Training Center where we have provided for a new well, an electric pump, and a generator.
It generally takes two days of travel to get to this remote part of Southern Sudan (directly north of Moyo, Uganda). They will be arriving as the rest of the team departs Omaha.
Thursday, March 12
The rest of the Mission Team departs this day, including Ronald Hunter, Catherine Opere, Anita Rodriguez, Conrado Rodriguez, Jeremy Grant, John Bueno, Peggy Naro, Amanda Naro, Bonnie Boone, Sara Krickbaum, Sara McCroden, David Cathey, Dale Miller, James Steier, Bodo Treu, John Franklin, Renee Long, Connie Davidson, Glenette Robinson, Barbara Brohman, and Alia McConnell. (15 Covenant members, 9 medical or water specialists) All day Friday we travel.
Saturday, March 14
The Mission Team is united as the remainder travels with Mission Aviation Fellowship directly to our destination in Wudu, landing on a strip used by the United Nations and other relief agencies. That afternoon, we will travel to the leprosy camp in Mogiri (15 miles northwest) to see to medical needs and offer what ministry we can to the people there through prayer and Word. John Hays is hopeful to install water purification systems everywhere the team can that people will not get further illness from this basic necessity. Every day, the team will face the possibilities of issues with food, sun, heat, bacteria, injury, sleeping, rough travel, as well as relational challenges with others and one another. Please pray the Lord will minimize these struggles and maximize our effectiveness for increasing His kingdom.
Sunday, March 15
Pastor Jeremy Grant will be preaching at a Church Dedication in Lito’ba, a village in the mountains near the border of Uganda (18 miles south). This church building was put up thanks to the ministry of Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse. We will make another stop in the village Logili to minister on the way back to Wudu. We will also attend to St. Bartholomew’s Orphanage in the late afternoon, offering medical screenings, presenting ministry to the children, and hoping to purchase whatever goods they have made by way of offering assistance.
Monday, March 16
The team travels to Liwolo (25 miles west) this day. We will set up an area in the school for a clinic, an area for prayer and evangelism, and an area for children’s ministry. We will pass out numbers to help keep order and see patients as long as they are coming and we are able. At mid-day, we will close the clinic so Pastor Jeremy can present a Gospel message and invitation to follow Jesus Christ. We will have people ready to pray with those who want to commit or recommit their lives to Jesus Christ and record those decisions for the local church to follow up with them in the days that follow. Please pray for good medical diagnoses, the right medications to help treat them, and the miraculous work of God by His Holy Spirit. Also, pray that many would respond with a first or renewed commitment to follow Jesus Christ as His disciple. May His Kingdom grow!
Tuesday, March 17
Most of the team travels to Kansuk village (20 miles north) to repeat the same activities as Monday. Wayne Naro, and Conrado and Anita Rodriguez, however, will stay at the Ecumenical Training Center to offer seminars. Wayne will be offering Bible teaching to a group of 100 pastors. Conrado will be teaching them about the effects of post-traumatic stress syndrome after the civil war and refugee camps, and how pastors can help families experiencing these effects. Anita will be teaching pastors’ wives and women in leadership.
Wednesday, March 18
This Wednesday, the Teaching team will again remain behind while the medical, children’s, water, and prayer and evangelism teams travels the 13 miles (west-northwest) to Lire village for similar ministries. Please pray that we will have effective ministry not only on planned tasks but interactions everywhere we go – and that the team receives rest and a deep love for one another through the fatigue.
Thursday, March 19
Today, the teams travel to Jalimo (20 miles east) for ministry. This evening, we will gather with local government and church officials for a “celebration banquet.” We pray we will leave a legacy of faith and righteousness for the leadership of Kajo Keji.
Friday, March 20
The final day of full clinic and ministry will be in the village Limi (12 miles southeast). As we fulfill all the reasons for which we came, and leave on Saturday, pray for good conclusions and good-byes.
Sunday, March 22
The team returns to Omaha!
