Marianne Landero was examined by Covenant member Dr. Hal Huff when a CPC mission team visited her poor rural village in Belize in August of 2008.  When he returned to Omaha he contacted a colleague at Children’s Hospital and learned about a special medical partnership that Children’s has with a hospital in Belize City, Belize.

Doctors were sent to Belize City from Omaha to examine Marianne to see if she was a candidate for heart surgery.  After examination, it was determined she was and the arrangements began in January for her to come to Omaha.

Marianne was flown to Omaha with her mother by the Omaha Rotary Club and are staying at the Rainbow House.  Dr. James Hammel performed open heart surgery on Marianne on Wednesday, April 22nd.

We hope to have Marianne and her mother with us in worship on Sunday, May 3rd so we can introduce them to our congregation.  We will have a card shower and encourage everyone to bring a card of encouragement for Marianne and her mother on that Sunday.
