Justin Cortelyou is a musician of many talents- both inside and outside of the studio. Born and raised just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania- Justin has been passionate about music for as long as he can remember. Successfully being a part of OVations Youth Symphony and The Florida Youth Symphony- two of the highest rated high school age symphonies in the United States- and earning a degree in music engineering from Middle Tennessee State University, Justin has long been well on his way to achieving success through music.
During his time at MTSU, Justin completed several internships with well known producers and labels, including Spongebath Records and producer Bil VornDick. While working for Bil, Justin was discovered by Grammy Award winning producer/engineer Chuck Ainlay. Chuck immediately recruited Justin to work for him at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville.
During his time at Sound Stage, Justin held teh title of Night Manager. Here, he also spent his time developing artists and new bands. At Sound Stage Studios, Justin also found himself assisting some of the top engineers and producers, including David Thoener, Reid Shippen, and Shannon Sanders.
While working in Nashville, Justin was recruited by one of his clients- actress turned country artist Crystal Bernard. Justin moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and began work with The Animal House under the guidance of three-time Grammy winning producer/engineer, Michael Shipley. During his time with The Animal House, Justin has had the tremendous pleasure of working with some of the world’s most brilliant musical minds, including Michael Beinhorn (Soul Asylum, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Tommy Henriksen (Drew Alexander, Balay, The Audio Club, Sincere), and Mark Trombino (Jimmy Eat World, Rock Kills Kid).
