Shortly after we were married we decided to have a Proclamation for our own family.  This was inspired by the “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” issued by our church leaders.

The Duke Family Proclamation:

We believe in Jesus Christ and welcome His spirit into our home.  We strive to follow the teachings of the Savior and to be an example to those around us.  We know that we are children of our Heavenly Father and by following his teachings we can be an eternal family.

Our family strives to develop attributes that will help us become a closer family.  Kindness, love, and having a positive attitude are central characteristics to the harmony of our home.  A trademark of our home will be clean, fun humor.

Everyone in our family should feel accepted and loved at all times.  Our home is a place we should feel supported in all of our endeavors.

Family Home Evening, prayer, and study will help bring us together as a family.  When we see someone in need we should be quick to help.  We will work hard and enjoy physical, spiritual, and mental activities.  Recording these memories in our personal journals will bless us and our posterity.
