I am a Scottish astronomer, currently living in Santiago in Chile. I work for the European Southern Observatory and spend half my time at La Silla observatory, on the Southern edge of the Atacama desert. Before moving to Chile I lived and studied in St Andrews in Scotland and in Belfast in Northern Ireland. When not working in astronomy I enjoy hiking, sailing and travelling.
