“Never Retreat... always go foward.”

JARED JACKSON SO DE

PLAYER OF THE GAME:   MICHAEL JOHNSON (New Smyrna Beach HS / Daytona Beach FL).  Mike is in his third year with SWC having red shirted this past season.  The starting NT and team Captain stepped up his productivity between the tackles and dominated  the interior running game.  Great job inside MIKE!

CO - OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE GAME:  IAN WATTERS (MAMMOTH HS) a sophomore, IAN has started every game for the JAGS this season.  His outstanding zone blocking this past week allowed our ground game to chew up yardage and lead to victory.  Freshman RB AARON HARRIS (Granite Hills HS) rushed 27 times for 159 yards and a TD.  AARON shattered the single season rushing record set by DANNY HOLMES in 1986 (1,024).  With one game to go AARON leads the Mountain Conference with 1,144 yards.  AARON has also broken the single season rushing TD record with 13 breaking the record set this past season by KENSLOW SMITH (Helix HS/Sac State).

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE GAME:  CASSY “Snoop” WHITE (San Diego HS) was a major force in the return area for the JAGS... he returned 3 kickoffs for over 100 total yards and was a step away from breaking two of them for TD’s.  His outstanding play set our offense up with great field position and kept the Olympians stuck with a long field all night.

BIG STICK:  FABIAN VARELA (Southwest HS) set the tone for defensive line play by driving the OT back into the backfield and cut the play off at the start.

JAGUAR DE JARED JACKSON (Bonita Vista HS) was recently named Mountain Conference Defensive Player of the week for his exceptional play against L.A. Harbor College.  JARED had numerous solo tackles as well as a "scoop and run" FUMBLE recovery for a TD.

JARED also went on a formal recruiting trip to University of Nevada Reno where he was offered a full scholarship to play football.

COACHES CORNER:  GOLDEN WEST 2009

JAGS fall to Golden West 56-10 to close out the season.  The JAGS lost starting QB STEVEN CARROLL (Oceanside HS) in the second series of the game and the wheels came off the explosive SWC offensive attack.  With CARROLL out of the game, GWC was able to focus their defensive efforts on freshman RB AARON HARRIS (Granite Hills HS).  HARRIS was held to a season low 66 yards on 16 carries with 1 TD.  MARQUISE DEADWILER (Helix HS) led the receivers with 4 catches.

The defensive standouts were freshman ILB TAMA HUGO (Tafuna HS / American Samoa) and sophomore ILB JEFF KAISA (Nu’uuli Poly-Tech HS / American Samoa).  Freshman safety DONTE HADDOCK (Eastlake HS) had an interception for the JAGS.

The lone bright spot in the kicking game was sophomore ABEL PEREZ (Castle Park HS) 47 yard field goal.  Abel also attempted a 63 yard field goal (he made a 60 yarder into the wind in pre-game).

This closes out the season for the JAGS a disappointing 4-6 after coming off the 2008 Championship / Bowl season.

We will move on to the weight room and recruit!
