In 2006, a new era in Ben Lippen Baseball began.  The legendary Bobby Young had decided to retire after 15 successful years at the helm and asked that Athletic Director, Bill Currier name Brent Walsh as his replacement.  The Falcons would start 7 sophomores and would eventually play for the Region Title on the last game of the season.  The guys came a run shy of a Region Title as they lost in extra innings on the last day of the season to finish tied for second.  The 2006 team was led by right handed pitcher,William Buzhardt who would be named to the CVAC all conference team at Erskine College as a freshman a year later.  The Falcon’s were young and played like it at times but also showed their exciting potential in splitting their two games with eventual State Champion Augusta Christian.  The Falcon’s finished the season at 17-9. In 2007, the Falcons returned 8 of 9 starters and were looking to build on the momentum from last season’s campaign.  They were still young as they took the field with one senior starter.  In spite of their youth, they were now playing with a full year’s experience.  They had learned what it took to win and were now working on playing with the expectation of winning every time they took the field.  The Falcon’s were led by senior right handed pitcher Greg Dunston who would sign a baseball scholarship with Anderson University.  The Falcon’s played with confidence and would eventually be named Region Champions.  They breezed through the playoffs after compiling a 22-5 mark to get to the State Championship.  The Falcon’s lost to the three time defending State Champions, Augusta Christian in the first two games of a three game series.  It was a major building block and the Falcon’s are poised to return to a State Title matchup after coming up short with 8 junior starters.  The Falcon’s finished the season at 22-7.
