Falcons get visit from Big League pitcher
This Monday, the Varsity baseball team got the opportunity to meet a major league baseball player as a Cincinnati Reds pitcher visited Falcon Field. Jon Coutlangus, former University of South Carolina centerfielder visited Ben Lippen, met with players, ran, tossed around a bit and then threw a short bullpen to Falcon catcher Blaine Walker. The Falcon’s hitting coach, Trey Dyson called up his old teammate and met him out at the field for some story telling and some great insight into the major leagues and his first year experience in The Show. Jon talked about playing with Ken Griffey Jr., the large crowds, the food, the Nike contracts, and even his experience striking out home run king Barry Bonds. It was a great experience for all of the guys and Jon was great with the players. We hope he has a great upcoming season as we will be following the Reds a little bit more intently the next few seasons. Thanks Jon, and our best to you in the future!
