Casa Belvedere in Civita di Bagnoregio
House for rent by the week
DETAILS: Click on the links above to explore my house and the adjacent garden, information about the town, and the location of Civita and things to do in the area. Please e-mail me about availability, or any questions you may have. The house rents for $1,200 a week, with discounts for longer stays, and accommodates up to 5 people. Ideally located as a home base for excursions to much of central Italy, this is also a place to enjoy for itself. Although this is a house in a village, the garden allows you to enjoy as much privacy outdoors as an isolated villa.
VILLAGE INFORMATION: Civita di Bagnoregio has been continuously inhabited for at least 2,500 years. This small hill town in central Italy is reached today only by a pedestrian bridge. The town stands like an island within the surrounding valley. Civita is built on a soft volcanic stone, tufo, which has eroded, exposing the even softer clay below. Physically isolated, Civita has preserved much of its medieval character, as well as traces of the earlier Roman and Etruscan civilizations. The population today varies from about 12 people in winter to over 100 in the summer.
