Nabeel Yasin was one of Iraq's most celebrated young poets when officers from Saddam Hussein's regime stamped the words 'Enemy of the State' on his passport.  Unable to work or travel his family were repeatedly arrested and tortured and in 1980, after a series of attempts were made on his own life, Nabeel was forced to flee into exile. Life without a home brought daily struggle and their search for a place to settle took them to many cities, Paris, Prague, Damascus, Beirut and Budapest.  They finally found a home and a community in London and Nabeel began to reclaim his poetic voice. His epic Brother Yasin Again, a sequel to the 1974 Brother Yasin was smuggled back to Iraq without him knowing where it became an anthem of resistance in his homeland.  Read more.....
