Spearhead Traverse

 

This classic coast mountain “Haute Route” starts on Whistler Mountain and works it’s way around the spectacular Spearhead Range. Traversing awesome terrain, bagging peaks and of course making ski descents are all features if this wonderful five day trip. This trip can be combined with the Mystery Creek trip to make an amazing and committed 10 day mountain ski traverse.

 

Dates: April 18-22, 2008

 

Price: $675 per person (at 4:1 ratio).

 

Included in the price: Guide, use of harness, transceiver, shovel, probe and group technical gear.

 

Not included in the price: Back country lift access pass, transportation, food, tents and personal clothing and equipment (list supplied on booking). Transport, food and tenting logistics will be organised between participants and IAG. Optional catering of three meals per day can be provided by IAG for a cost of $40/person/day.

Mystery Creek Tour


Traveling over the entirely alpine height of land from Blackcomb Mountain to Mount Currie this is a remote five day traverse of the dramatic, glaciated southern coast mountains. Come prepared to work hard and be rewarded.


Dates: April 12-15, 2008


Price: $1025 per person (at 4:1 ratio).


Included in the price: Guide, helicopter drop and pick-up, use of harness, transceiver, shovel, probe and group technical gear.


Not included in the price: Transportation, food, tents and personal clothing and equipment (list supplied on booking). Transport, food and tenting logistics will be organised between participants and IAG. Optional catering of three meals per day can be provided by IAG for a cost of $40/person/day.




Paradise Meadows to Comox Glacier Traverse


Traveling this traverse in the summer is a delight but as a winter ski traverse is when it really shines. Staying above tree line essentially for the entire traverse this ski tour takes in the height of land on the eastern edge of Strathcona Park taking in countless summits and all with superlative views of the Island and Coastal Mountains and the Straight of Georgia. Previous ski touring experience is recommended for this 6 day trip.

Price: $810 per person (at 4:1 ratio).

Mount Matchlee heli accessed ski touring week-end


Mount Matchlee offers some of the finest ski terrain on Vancouver Island and with the helicopter base at Gold River being so close makes a superb (and cost effective) destination for a fly in week-end of ski touring. Fly in early Saturday morning and enjoy a full day of exploring the varied slopes of the area. Camping is at the edge of a lovely alpine lake. On Sunday a morning of more touring is followed by a descent of more than 1500 vertical metres to cars waiting below.

            May 17-18, 2008


Price: $470 per person.

Mount Myra ski touring week-end


Mount Myra offers relatively quick access on foot to some excellent ski terrain. Skiing on all aspects is available as are some lovely tree skiing options making it a great location in a number of conditions. Conditions permitting a descent of the north face (nearly 1000m vertical) may be a possibility.


Dates: April 5-6, 2008


Price: $270 per person.

Waddington Ski mountaineering


Ski mountaineering in the crown of the Coast Mountains. Seven days of world class ski touring with a chance at the NW summit of Mount Waddington make this one of the greatest ski mountaineering adventures anywhere. Peak objectives include Mounts Munday, Jester and Cavalier amongst others combined with long glacial ski runs on a scale found only in the high mountains.
