Sundays

Modern Dance Technique  2:00 - 3:15 pm

Instructor in April: Himmat Kaur

My goal as a teacher is to weave understanding of dance as a holistic art into the awareness of dancers while helping them connect to themselves as creative entities.  I aim for my students to encompass the knowledge of their own bodies and have full control over those.  My teaching style includes strong technical components such as full use of kinesphere, planes of movement, and anatomical alignment awareness coupled with creative investigation of movement and images.  My wish is to train technically competent dancers who understand their power as artists and are willing to work for full bodied awareness.

My classes focus on technical work within functional alignment.  Core body strength is a key point as well as understanding how to move away from the core.  Spatial awareness and distal awareness are important elements for focus in my classes.  Classes are high energy and maximum movement, please be warm and ready to start on time.

Improvisation 3:30 - 5:00 pm

Facilitator: Joy Davis, Artistic Director

This month our Improv Classes will be geared towards self exploration in a “jam” context. There will be a short moving meditation/warm up at the beginning while the rest of the class time will be structured only by changing music and your own desire to experiment with movement.
