Hi Everyone. I hope you enjoy the music I’ve made. There are some things from before Chub Creek when I was just really learning how to do all of this. And, of course all of the music I made for Chub Creek. I think those are my favorite to listen to because it brings back so many great memories. Trying to create something on a weekly basis was sometimes difficult but also, sometimes magical. It was always your comments that made us keep it going. And for that, I thank you so much.

Acid Train
A recording that seems like it was done so very long ago. I realized I could make music and have so much fun with it. Adding in pieces of movie clips from films that are my all time favorites makes it that much more fun too. When it was finished I remember being so damn happy about it even though it had so many mistakes. Levels? What levels? Haha.

Alienation
Each morning that I wake up, I have to begin the day knowing that we as a society have evolved into something that I am completely unsure of. I wanted to create a song that I could sit back listen to and make myself more comfortable…, surrounded in sounds that made it seem okay. There aren’t aliens ‘out there’. They are right here...

Choice 2
Choice is my all time favorite thing I’ve done. “Choice is an illusion.” That still makes me think. Remember, I am quite simple. Haha. My influences are many in the world of music, but Skinny Puppy is my all time favorite. Other than lyrics, sampling is just amazing. I was, as I am now, just learning to make music. And this one turned out exactly the way I wanted it to. “Are you frightened?”
“Yes...”
Everyone Here Is Mad
A lot of the songs I write sound like I’m speaking out to people and trying to prove some kind of point. Well, I’m not really. This song always reminds me of that. The only person in the room while recording this was me. And yes, I am mad. Haha. I love this song. It somehow makes me feel closer to what I love in the music I grew up with such as Skinny Puppy, the Revolting Cocks and Ministry. Again, a lot of confusion and samples creating an interesting effect.

Midnight Shootout
I used to play this online game called Soldier of Fortune. I loved that damn game. Going around all these different maps killing people. Haha. It wasn’t the killing though. It was the challenge of beating people who I had came to know just by meeting them online. It was very cool.

No Solution
Well, what can I say? There really is no solution is there? Not until there is a new President…

Oil Tanker
Well, again, this is about the world and greed. I really loved playing the guitar in this one. Sometimes with those damn headphones on and listening to what you are laying down on a track can be so fulfilling.
The Keeper
Another early track. It was a lot fun to make, I remember that. I put things in there that were very risky, but again, it was just for me at the time. From my favorite movies I added in clips that recorded something about how I really feel…

Inspirational

All About Love
This was one of those moments where I completely lost myself in making music. I am proud how the guitar turned out even though there were many mistakes. I came up with this silly idea of making the drums with a track of just me thumping my hands on the acoustic. It’s all about love. And it truly is. Although I am rather insane at times and seem quite lost, I believe strongly in God. And, I believe that God is Love. Everything that is important to me is in this song…
Ballad to the Frogs
If you had even the slightest clue about what frogs mean to Dave and I. Growing up was, as is for anyone, a learning experience. Why we did what we did, was I suppose, the only way we could grow up thinking the way we do today. There had to be a ballad to the frogs. I recorded this using a cheap, cheap, cheap microphone that was intended for chatting on a computer. The quality of recording, picking up the guitar blew me away. It still does…
Courage
Courage goes on waaay too long, but I was really enjoying myself. Having Dr. Martin Luther King in there was awesome. I was in this mood where I wanted to create something really positive.

David’s Song
Thanks to Acid 5, I created a neat beginning to this one. This was a time where my buddy Dave was going through some really tough times. I wrote him this to help him along. Its quite funny actually because I think it ended up having the opposite effect on him. It is rather sad. But, basically what I was telling him in this song was that everything would be okay.

Fall 2
I don’t know really. Its all about the mood I was in that day. And those kinds of moods where you can just let everything disappear and come up with something neat on a guitar is a great day. A great moment. It has feeling. I am not much of a Fall lover. It is the beginning to cold weather. I am a summer person. And, me being Mr. Dramatic has to create something to show my feelings towards fall.

Free Your Voice
(Dave here: Gary never sent a description for this, so I can only assume it’s about Mrs Grizzle’s missing voice being reclaimed by Dirk Thruster on episode 4 of DarkSpeed)

Restore
Another early track of mine. I was just learning all of this shit, using drum loops I had found online. I played a little riff, with terrible timing I might add, but, had a lot of fun…

Sunday
I like this track. It was me learning Acid 5 and how to piece things together. I added the choir and it immediately made me think of how I felt on a Sunday…

Thoth
One late night, while my family was sleeping (something I should have been doing), I was recording on the computer. Nothing at all was happening and I gave up. I turned to the television to watch a biography on a man who lives in New York. His name is Thoth. The story of his life, and his passion for what he believed in inspired me so much, this song came to life immediately…

Van Diemen’s Land
I had always wanted to record this. Playing the guitar was really a lot of fun. I love the Edges voice so much. I was just happy I could somewhat pull it off. The inbetween guitar filler still makes me laugh.

Songs Inspired by my Experiences in Life

Anxious
I was once the proud owner of a business that I had worked towards all my life. There came a time when I realized how false it was and prepared to leave it behind. This song was written early in the morning. It was one of those very important times where I was able to write down exactly what it was that I was thinking. It is about being afraid and excited about our future. My wife is much more calm, and smart actually, than I. She helps me get through all the troubled times. Thank you Lynn.

Careless
This is one my favorites. It was originally a poem and there are lyrics that were left out of this piece. This song is totally about one’s feelings of being lost. Personality, and confusion. But, when everything gets crazy, hold on... hold on. Bad times always, always pass...

Change
Dave always liked this one. Another really early one too. I like how I actually played something on acoustic that sounded pretty cool like that. I was feeling bummed out about the future and really did feel change coming. It’s a song, again, about confusion I was feeling. Should I? Shouldn’t I? But, in the end, as always, I knew what direction I should go. I think that shows in the lyrics. I love songs like this that I had done long ago, where I listen now and understand a little bit more...

Doing The Right Thing
Ah, life. It can be so cruel to those that let it. Kind of serious, and yet fun. I added a bit of seriousness and crazy recording. And no, I don’t kiss asses. Maybe I should.
Friends
OOOOh. This one is recorded poorly. But, it was one of my first so I try to forget all the level mistakes. Its pretty serious actually. “Our great depression... is our lives.” So, you can tell what mood I was in…

The Fun Song
This song was written entirely to tell you about who I am and my journey in life. I had recorded it at an earlier stage but it wasn’t really what I wanted. I’m very proud of this version thanks to Fruity Loops. I remember the night when I completed this with a smile from one end of the house to the other. Life is supposed to be fun, and if you find you are not having fun, you have to take two steps back.

I’ll Always Make Time
I had some really interesting moments in the summer of 2005 outside experiencing God. And, after realizing like a dumb ass that I was being an idiot by forgetting some really important things, like having the relationship that I should have with God daily... I wrote this...

Incomplete Dream
I actually had this dream and remembered everything the next morning. I wanted to write it down right away but had to go to work. And usually, I’d forget about it but that day I didn’t. I immediately came home, and wrote this.

It’s Only Me
From time to time I find myself amazingly slapped in the face after thinking negatively. Everyone is the same really and it is so dumb to think about yourself so much…

Join The Game
Some day I’m going to re-record this one. I really like it. It’s about me, and some really special people I once left behind. My thoughts, their thoughts, and our departing. It is also about how I believe in what I do, what I’ve done and how I should always celebrate that. I’m rather picky at times with certain things and for that there will never be any regret…

Lyrical Getaway
Like zoning in on a brush stroke of a great painting, writing lyrics for me is a getaway in itself. When the feeling is there, I am just loving it. And, I am sitting around thinking a lot. And as I wrote this, again, leaving behind something I had worked so hard for, I looked into myself, my life. A proud, proud guy for my accomplishments, yet, afraid of what was to come and my feelings during those years.
Memories
Another one of my early recordings. A time when I had no idea about levels. Haha. It’s okay though. It captured a mood I was in very well. It is has its happy parts, but more so, sad parts. “More is what I want, but it took me away….” that was most likely the very beginning of my clueing into what ‘things’ really meant. When greed grabs us and turns us over, you feel like this…

Moonlight
Ah, Moonlight. I wrote this while my family was upstairs sleeping. And yes, of course I was downstairs at my computer thinking away. I was thinking of wasting time endlessly worrying about life. And, I was asking for an answer. Dave eventually added to the song with guitar and backup vocals making it really, really nice. Thanks Buddy.
The Blues Have Come To You
Okay, this was a song I sat down and just wrote. The only part of it that has anything to do with my life is the part where the guy is sick of doing the same shit in his life. The rest? Well, it was just me writing stuff. I kind of like it though… it’s somewhat of a story...

The Dance
Oh, the dance. Do you know what the dance is? It’s not being yourself and playing a fucking game to get somewhere in life. It’s trying to reside next to other people who think they are important by being fake. And, I once almost made that mistake. Never again…

The Plan
The Plan is about drinking too much and losing yourself. It’s about making too many mistakes. I like this track, although I recorded the bass too loudly which pisses me right off…

Truth
One of those days where I just really wasn’t feeling to with it…Actually, I wasn’t feeling good at all. There was just waaaaay too much stress in my life at that time. My wife asked me if I was okay…

In The Beginning...

Back
Man. I can’t even remember when I did this one. All I do know, is that it was in the very beginning of me even attempting making music. It was the early days of using and learning Acid. I’m listening to it as I write this…I have no idea what it was meant to be but the little guitar riff is kind of peaceful. Knowing me, calling it back had something to do with me thinking and regretting something about the past. Never regret anything. It’s never worth it. We can’t go back, but, we can go forward...
I Don’t Give a Fuck About That Toaster And I Want a Donut
I remember doing this damn song one night all by myself in the evening. Again, using a simple, pathetic microphone meant for chatting. I had it taped to my desk and got up close to it and just did this in one shot. Like you couldn’t tell. Haha. You would think I had been drinking, but no. Scary huh? I send it off to Dave as a joke and what does he do with it? I told him to erase it after listening, and he starts sending it to people. There are still parts in it that make me cringe but having Adam Curry play the entire thing on the Daily Source code, and hear him laugh along with it makes it all worth the while. Thanks Dave. Thanks Adam

Rum And Mango
(Dave here: Gary didn’t send a description for this, but I can remember it captured a feeling he got while on a tropical vacation. Happy, carefree, and, yes, drunk)

Step So Careful
Another early one. I like the lyrics to this, but the music sucks. I should re-do this. It’s about sinking into something to the point of no return really. Just a moody song…

Sunshine
This track was never supposed to be heard by anyone. Haha. I had the best intentions…but, really….it’s a song half done, like a jam session on its way to something…..maybe……oh oh, the vocals just blew my speakers…haha…turn your speakers down okay? Ah, Bono…..I love Bono.
Things Just Fade
This is an oldy but I really like it. I once carved my name, and my wifes name into a tree where I grew up. It’s still in the tree, kind of hard to read, but this is sometimes how I feel about leaving things behind…

What Are You On (And What Do You Want)
I had originally recorded this on a reel to reel when my oldest daughter was about 4. It was hot. Haha. It really, really was. I can remember playing it at a party all happy about it. Well, the recording is lost forever so I ended up recording it again. The first recording was done well. I don’t like this one at all. The lyrics are about what I was saying to myself at that time.

YaDatizme
Dave, you are so cruel in putting some of these on here. You know that? Haha. This is an early one. It’s me farting around not knowing what the hell I was doing…..turn down the speakers, the bass will kill you…

Fun Stuff for the Creek

Budgie Balls
Dave had told me one night while chatting how he had been drinking rum. I think he had mentioned it again at a later date and it stuck with me. I had this craving for rum, so, went out and bought myself a bottle. Well, the recording, Budgie Balls, came from my night of drinking this rum. Somehow I ended up with a pretty neat recording from it all. Do I remember doing it? Hell no.

Coming Home
don't know what this one is.....haha.....

Frap
Well, ever since Dave introduced me to Frappr, I had to create something for it. Plus, it has such a cool name. This was an opportunity to just sit down and lose myself in making music.

Frightened People
I actually wrote this song when my first daughter was, oh, about five. It’s one of those songs I’ve been working on forever and it never happened properly. So, I sat down one night recording for Chub Creek and laid it out in a fun way. It is supposed to be entirely acoustic.

Grampa
Haha. I’m writing this out and Dave keeps adding more. Grandpa. Oh man. I had fun doing this.

In Barefeet We Slid
Well, what can I say? This one speaks for itself. But, as a kid I did slide through cow shit. Oh, those were the days. What is funny about this song is how damn long it goes on…

Let’s Go Home (with intro skit)
Sometimes I like to just let my imagination free and write something like this.

Happy Mother’s Day
Haha. I totally forgot about this.

Nipple Fun
All inspired from the Gary Has Big Nipples track. This is me just having fun experimenting with music.

Poo Pid Dee Doo
(Dave again: Gary was messing with some cool effects on this one. I liked it but it freaked me out a little)

Seriously
This one speaks for itself. And, its so true. I take myself too seriously sometimes. But, other times, I couldn’t give a shit… haha

Shitting On Your Own Dinner Plate
Oh man. I forgot about this one. Haha. I was fooling around making music and added in parts of one of Dave’s rants. Dave, you were so angry... I love it.

The Shanty Bay Bee Keeper Blues
Dave used to rent an apartment from a guy who to me looked pretty strange. He had a white box at the side of the house where he kept bees. Well, I guess they kept themselves and he just stole their honey. But, anyway, I visited Dave one night, got way too drunk and ran home. And home wasn’t really that close by foot. I ran over a hill which turned out to be a cliff and fell into a pond of water. I eventually made it home. My mother found my clothes in the front porch and water all the way down the hallway and me naked in bed…haha.

For Our Friends

Dicks n Janes
For the Scarborough Dude of Dicks n Janes podcast.

Mr. Nobes From Wollongong
Well, a really, really special guy from Australia supported Dave and I regarding Chub Creek. I began to read his blogs, and to this day I miss his writing. His profile pic really did look like he was picking his nose. Haha. I just had to write a song about it…

Having Fun With Music

Da Boys
This was me again, learning how to piece together music. It makes me feel like I’m in a large bar listening to a band who lose themselves in their instruments…..I like that feeling…

What Are You On (And What Do You Want) Instrumental
This is me bringing an old song back to life by just rocking to it…..I loved playing the guitar to this…

Youth
The Iraq War… man oh man…

Songs with Gary and Dave
Folsom Prison Retirement Home Blues
Gary and I did this after consuming about four tons of hot wings and a 24 pack of beer.

See How I am (Chub Creek Anthem)
Gary stumbled over his words during episode 14 of Chub Creek. I made a song out of it. Part of this is a spoof of Yello’s “Oh Yeah”. This was a lot of fun to do.

Chub Creek Theme Song (intro)
This is the thingy we play at the beginning of the show. I have no idea why anybody would want it, but we’re very partial to this tune, so here it is.

Marvin Suicide
A song Gary and I did over a few beers. It’s about our pal Marvin. It’s a bit strange, but so is he.

Flags
A really neat tune Gary and I worked on together. We did it around when Hurricane Katrina hit.

Rubber Boot
It’s about a rubber boot on the road. Sing along!
