Well, New York Comic-Con is history. It was great seeing all of you who stopped by my signings, and a special treat to meet some of the international creators I’ve worked with, but never had the chance to see in person, like Stefano Caselli, Leandro Fernandez, Simon Coleby and many more.
From my end, the big announcement at NYCC was that I’ll be writing the ongoing WildStorm series Wildcats, with amazing art by Neil Googe, with the first issue hitting in July! For more details click here. Wildcats will be joined by the new ongoing Authority series, by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning and Simon Coleby; the continuing Gen 13, by Scott Beatty and Mike Huddleston; and the returning StormWatch PHD, by Ian Edgington and Leandro Fernandez! If you’re at a convention in the near future where DC is set up, grab the free preview book they’re giving away, which contains excerpts of all four titles!
For anyone wondering, these books WILL ship on time. Editor Ben Abernathy has been great about planning ahead, and there are multiple issues already in the can for each. Plus, each issue will contain a 4-page backup story, combining to tell a 16-page story each month, mostly written by me with art by comics superstars like Pete Woods (Cybernary), Mike McKone (Marc Slayton/Backlash), Trevor Hairsine (Lynch), Brandon Badeaux (Wetworks), Phil Noto (Christie Blaze), Ivan Reis (Team Achilles), and more! Everyone involved is working really hard to put out entertaining books on a dependable schedule, so I hope you’ll check ‘em out!
At Marvel, I’m writing four issues of Thunderbolts (issues #121-124) that tie in with the summer blockbuster crossover Secret Invasion! Those dastardly alien Skrulls also turn up in Avengers: The Initiative, the book I co-write with Dan Slott...and speaking of the Initiative, it was also announced at NYCC that I’m writing an Avengers: Initiative Special, focusing on the characters Hardball and Komodo, with art by Steve Uy. This resolves the sub-plot of Hardball’s involvement with the terrorist group Hydra, so you won’t want to miss it!
That’s it for now...hope to see you at San Diego Comic-Con!
