TrueShreve.com Christine Truesdell Shreve Studio Buttons “Inspired by the 18th Century ‘picture under glass’ and ‘habitat’ buttons, I create button frames of laminated wood into which are placed a variety of objects. The wood used typically is a combination cherry, maple, and walnut. Components within the frames range from hand-colored relief prints, drawings, photographs, and paintings to found objects that are either left ‘as is’ or somehow manipulated. Mineral glass watch crystals cover the contents of the buttons. Handmade wooden shanks are applied on the wooden backside, then the buttons are signed, dated, and numbered.
