“When drawing or painting a dog, I’m searching for a connection with the thought processes going on inside
the dog’s mind.  Believing the domestic canine has at least some similar emotions and thoughts to what humans possess, I’m searching up close ... in the face ... to connect the viewer with the subject’s feelings.  Beyond that, the diversity of form and texture seen in the many breeds of dogs intrigues me greatly.  From muscular, stout or thin, bristly, silky or bare, dogs provide a myriad of landscapes from which to work.”   C. Shreve
