In late June, Jessie and I joined a group of ten Cross Country International riders for a seven night, eight day adventure ride along the beaches and through the jungles of Costa Rica.
We stayed for five nights at the Guacamaya Lodge, located in the northern province of Guanacaste, on the Nicoya Peninsula at Playa Junquillal, 35km south of Tamarindo, over a cliff right in front of the Pacific Ocean, a quiet place where you can enjoy of a white sand almost deserted beach, world class surfing, great snorkling, spectacular sunsets and more. The nearby beaches are pristine and you can walk virtually undisturbed for hours and hours. Our beach hotel was located one and a half hours away from the International Liberia Airport (a 7-hour flight from Portland) in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.
Then, we rode our horses for four hours north to the Hotel Luna Azul for the last two nights. Paradise!
