JAMES STREET
JAMES STREET
Foundation Architecture refurbished this 6 storey office building in the Marylebone area of London which was looking very “Eighties” (think pink marble and mirrored reception area!). Foundation Architecture not only dragged this building into the 21st century by designing a beautiful Wenge timber panelled reception area, adding new energy efficient lighting and a VRF combined heating and cooling system, providing crisp functional office spaces with raised flooring, frameless glass partitioning and perforated aluminium access ceilings, but by reconfiguring the old core of the building, they created a total of 216 feet² of nett lettable space per floor, the value of which came to a third of the total refurbishment cost. This building is a very good example of how Foundation Architecture are able to see untapped potential in buildings that others can’t. In this case the client was delighted that additional square footage was created within the existing building footprint.
