Buffalo in Organic Gardening Magazine
“Urban renewal is coming to this old industrial center on Lake Erie, and with it a rejuvenated green scene, inspired in part by Garden Walk Buffalo, the largest event of its kind in the nation.”
- Organic Gardening magazine
The title of the article is, Buffalo, Great Garden Town, 36 Hours around the Lake. Which happens to be the hours writer Amy Stewart had here last year during Garden Walk Buffalo.
Amy (of GardenRant.com and Dirt) was shepherded around and was able to key in on a great garden destinations in the area with visits to: Garden Walk Buffalo, Elmwood-Bidwell Farmer’s Market, Erie Basin Marina test gardens, Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, Frederick Law Olmsted’s Delaware Park and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House. She interspersed these visits with shopping trips to Lockwood’s Greenhouses, the Lexington Co-op and Urban Roots Community Garden Center. As well as dining at Betty’s and Rue Franklin. She’s written a short blurb on each along with web links for more info.
And she didn’t even get to Niagara Falls to see the hydro-power plant or the massive wind turbines along the waterfront, which just add to our “greenness.”
Come visit during Garden Walk (Saturday and Sunday, July 26 & 27) - more than 300 urban gardens, it’s free and you’re all invited!
