Rules

Rule 1:  Age Requirement

A player must be 18 years of age or older to play.

Rule 2:  Event Stamps

Event stamps will be used in 2008 instead of previous years’ Poker Run Tokens.  All venues will be able to issue blank event stamp cards which may be carried by each player from event to event.  The card will be stamped by the Poker Run Representative at each event, thus verifying the player’s attendance.  Stamps may be collected on more than one card, but only one stamp per event will be counted on game day.

Rule 3:  Acquiring Poker Cards

On Game Day, a player will be able to draw one poker card from a deck for each unique event stamp collected on the stamp card.  A minimum of 3 stamps is required to play and the 5-card hand may be filled using Rule 4.

Rule 4:  Additional Cards

For each hand registered, a player has the option to draw up to two (2) additional cards for a suggested donation of $2.00 per card, but not to exceed the maximum of seven cards per hand.  As an example, if a player has 5 event stamps, he or she may draw 5 cards plus a maximum of 2 more for a total of seven, from which the 5-card poker hand will be made.  Three unique event stamps is the minimum required to play on Game Day.  Those three cards plus 2 additional cards for a suggested donation of $4.00 will be necessary to make up a 5-card hand.

Rule 5:  Poker Hand

A “poker hand” will be the five cards of those drawn, as selected by the player (or designated drawer in the case of an absentee player), to be registered with the Judge.

Rule 6:  Recording Donation

A $5.00 “recording donation” per hand registered is suggested.  This applies to mail-in (absentee) players as well as those in attendance on Game Day.  If paying by check, please make the check payable to “Midwest Poker.”  No donation is required.

Rule 7:  Returning Cards to the Deck

After each poker hand is recorded, all cards will be returned to the deck and reshuffled before any other cards are drawn for another hand.  If a player wishes to record more than one hand, he or she will draw the cards for the first hand and record that hand.  Then, all cards will be returned to the deck for reshuffling prior to drawing the second hand.

Rule 8:  Draw by Proxy

A proxy may be appointed by the stamp card owner to draw the poker hand on Game Day.  The Judge must be notified that a player is a proxy when the stamp card to be used is presented.  Rule 4 may be used by the proxy to draw up to two (2) extra cards for a maximum of 7 cards from which the 5-card hand is made.

Rule 9:  Mail-In Player

A player may also mail in his or her stamp card or cards.  Mail the card(s), along with a letter to the Poker Run Committee, requesting that a member of the committee or a designee draw the cards for the player on Game Day.  Include in the letter the player’s name, mailing address, and telephone number.  The stamp card(s) and letter must arrive no later than October 10, 2008.  A player may use Rule 4 to fill out the hand.  Mail stamp cards, letter, and any recording donations to:

The Midwest EAA Chapters Poker Run Committee will not be responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, misdirected or delayed mail.

Rule 10:  Ranking of Poker Hands

Standard, accepted poker hand hierarchy will be used to determine prize winners.  A list of poker hands, in descending order of strength, will be posted at the registration table on Game Day.

Rule 11:  Ties

In the event that two players register the exact same poker hand, the judge will flip a coin to determine the winner.  The first player to register his or her hand will be “Heads” and the second to register will be “Tails.”  The winner of the coin toss will be awarded the higher prize and the loser of the toss will be awarded the lower prize, if any.

Rule 12:  Claiming a Prize

After a player’s hand is registered with the Judge, the player need not remain at the Game Day event in order to collect any prize.  If a player intends to leave the event before prizes are announced, he or she must leave a mailing address and phone number with the Judge.  Winners of all prizes will be posted within one week of Game Day on the Poker Run website, whose web address is:

http://web.mac.com/chapter60/poker/2008_Winners.html

Rule 13:  Disbursement of Prizes

The game will close at noon on Game Day.  Winners will be recorded shortly thereafter and prizes will be awarded directly to players or their proxies who are still present.  Prizes to players not present will be mailed within 48 hours.  Payment will be in the form of a check made out to the name of the player given in the contact information left with the Judge or in the letter accompanying the stamp card(s) of a mail-in player.

Rule 14:  Disagreements and Challenges

Adjudication of disagreements concerning all matters related to the game will be decided first by reference to the Poker Run Rules, and if not specifically addressed by the Rules, the Judge will render a decision.  The decision of the Judge in all matters will be final.

Rule 15:  Taxes

Any local, state, or federal taxes applicable to the winning of prize money are the sole responsibility of the player.
