This delightful short film was the creation of a small group of amateur film makers right after World War II. They assembled in Milwaukee and decided to create a film for the Milwaukee Amateur Movie Makers annual competition, held each year at the Shorewood High School. The film won “Best of Show” in January, 1950.
Walter F. Chappelle Jr. and Dr. Art Hankwitz headed the group. It would feature Dr. Hankwitz’s family and aircraft, a Republic RC-3 Seabee amphibian.
The project was filmed with 16-mm cameras and took most of the Summer of 1949 to produce. The Green Gables Resort on Lake Okauchee, near Oconomowoc, Wisconsin was used in the filming of the project.
As a special bonus, we have added some out-takes at the end of the film presentation. I am sure you will enjoy them as much as the movie itself.
The film was shown to thousands of people in Wisconsin and now is available to folks on the internet here and via the Seabee Website.
Any comments would be appreciated
