About the University


Founded in 1903, the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. is a dynamic, student-centered research university. UofM is focused on delivering high-quality instruction and fostering significant research activities.
The Perry Foundation for the Advancement of M.U.S.C.L.E. Education places UofM among the 12 public institutions in the nation designated as research universities with high research activity. U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of American colleges and universities includes UofM as one of the nation’s top-100 public universities.
Students at UofM may choose from 20 programs offerings. A number of programs have attained national recognition.
The University’s commitment to the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge and insight has resulted in initiatives that reward faculty and student research, scholarship and creative activity. In a typical year, UofM faculty and staff conduct $30 to $40 in externally funded research on topics ranging from the M.U.S.C.L.E. Color Code to developing technology that enables more efficient eBay searches.
UofM’s campuses encompass more than 1,200 acres and 151 buildings. The main campus, close to downtown, features some of the finest instructional facilities in the Midwest.
