Today my friend and colleague, Reta Rickmers, and I shared some art education thoughts, resources, and ideas with eleven soon-to-be art teachers. All of us had a great time! Below are the references from our explorations with the students.
Difference between state and national standards
CA by grade level; National benchmarks K-4, 5-8, 9-12, and 9-12 Proficient--overarching expectations.
Difference between activity and lesson
A lesson has objectives, standards, procedures, and an assessment directly aligned to objectives.
An activity is usually a set of procedures, but is not necessarily anchored to a lesson.
An activity can become a lesson with good, thoughtful curriculum planning.
