Sweet Mowgli.  He didn’t know what hit him.  Sunday was a normal day.  He went to the park, had some treats, ate his supper.  No big deal.  Monday, he came to DogBoy’s but didn’t seem to be himself.  He had a rough day here (a disagreement with another dog), and seemed to feel pretty punky.  He laid around a lot in the office, and soon after picking him up, his mom Michelle knew something wasn’t right.  She tried feeding him his dinner.  He was a good sport and ate a little - he even brought her a toy - but it soon his dinner came right back up.  He tried eating a little more.  It came up again.

Michelle had to do something.  She took him to the Animal ER, and after X-Rays, it was determined he had something in his stomach (what could it be???).  He spent the night there on fluids and being watched, and went to his regular vet clinic the next morning.  White Rock Animal Hospital took another X-Ray to see if anything had changed, and were alarmed enough that they felt he needed surgery.  They knew something was backed up in his stomach, but they weren’t sure what.  Was it treats? Had he gotten into something?  Did he eat a comforter???

Turns out, Mowgli had about 5 cups of food and treats stuffed in his tummy - it was distended and had swollen to over 2 times its size.  Poor little guy!  He was headed for Bloat, and that can be fatal.  Luckily, the great people at White Rock took action quickly, and after another night in the ER and another day at the vet, he got to go home today!  I checked on him at the vet today - hence the picture above with the lovely Elizabethan collar.  I’m sure he loved that!  His spirit was good, and he looked ready to go home.  Luckily, the vet found no obstruction in his bowel, so the backup was kind of a mystery.  We’re keeping our paws crossed for a full recovery.  Get well soon, Mowgli!
