Wow! 2007 Ended with a BANG. In the weeks since my last blog, I’m not quite sure where to start. The Christmas Holiday got busy early with three home boarders. Molly “The Diva” was back for an encore of snoozing and belly rubs at Casa de DogBoy. The Diva was joined by her two pals Rafe (also back from Turkey Day) and Jeb, affectionately termed the “Old Boys Choir”. They spent their days howling in unison at every opportunity, doorbell, or general milling about by humans. The kids couldn’t get enough of them, and even my neice Sarah (who thinks she’s afraid of dogs) made a new friend. She’s been playing at home in Houston with her imaginary Molly every since.
Christmas seemed as though it was going to go off without a hitch. Everything was perfect. I should have known a storm was coming when Tessa decided to eat our Christmas Eve dinner. Yep, you heard me. She ATE four seasoned beef tenderloins, ready to cook - took them right off the counter. So while I took the kids to church, DogBoy went to the grocery store for more steaks.
Who ME???
Christmas morning was lovely, but in the days between Christmas and today, we have had complete chaos. We give out three long sad howls to some friends we lost at the end of this year, namely Luna, Isis, and Hunter. Still too sad to talk about it all, but our thoughts are with all the families involved and those of us who will miss them almost as much as their moms and dads.
I just about cut my finger off making Christmas dinner, our old pal Cleo tried to run away TWICE IN TWO DAYS (she’s home safe now), the septic tank backed up (three times now!), and the water heater broke on the busiest bath day of the season - Ack! Enough already! So here I am, staying up late doing kennel laundry at the house (along with three other employees who took loads home) so we don’t get too far behind, and praying for some quiet time in the new year. I am just SURE it is right around the corner.
For those of you who haven’t already called to reserve, we are already 3/4 full for both Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2008. Now’s your chance - Go for it!
