4th Graders Reflect on Learning

Central Idea: Creative expression provides many ways to communicate ideas and emotions.

The Primary Years Programme encourages collaboration among teachers to make learning meaningful for students. During this unit students explored creative expression through music, visual arts, Spanish and poetry. On April 24th, students invited families, staff and the community to share in their learning. Events included class Reader’s Theater presentations as well as original compositions performed by students. The hallways displayed many of the projects done throughout the unit.

Among the poetry highlighted during this event was a project that involved students composing their own song in music class, which they performed and recorded with the help of the media specialist. Students combined this work with an original poem they wrote accompanied by a painting that reflected the poem. The students put their work together using iMovie. Look for those projects to be on the website at a later time!
