J80 North American Championships

The 2007 J80 North American Championships will be held in Annapolis, MD.  Racing will be on Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11, 2007.  Launching, preparation and measurement of boats, as well as crew weigh-in’s will be held on Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 8, with a practice race scheduled for Thursday afternoon.  Please note that crew weigh-ins after Thursday will by appointment only.

We are being hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club.  EYC is providing launching, hauling, water storage and trailer storage for the regatta.  This will also be our race headquarters for the weekend as well as the host for our off shore parties.  Their address is 317 First Street, Annapolis, MD.  Downtown historic Annapolis is a tricky little town with a lot of extremely narrow and one-way streets.  We have provided easy directions to EYC with a boat trailer on a seperate flyer.

The co-chairmen for your North American Championships are Kristen and Brian Robinson.  They are being assisted by Chris Johnson and Kerry Klinger as well as many volunteers from the Eastport Yacht Club members.

EYC has a single point 2 ton crane for launching/hauling.  We will be using gin poles to step the masts.  We have many owners bringing their own gin poles and we have at least 2 at EYC.  Volunteers experienced with using gin poles will be available to assist anyone who has never stepped their mast using a gin pole before.

EYC is providing every participant of the 2007 J80 NA’s use of the club facilities for the weekend.  This includes our GREAT bar and full service kitchen (foul weather gear is optional in the dining room!)!  You will be able to use cash or credit for the weekend (no vouchers!).

If flying into Annapolis, the closest and most convenient airport is BWI.

Beer is only sold in Liquor Stores in Maryland.  Information on the closest liquor stores will be provided to you at registration.

Lunch service will be available for the weekend.  Order forms and pricing will be available to you at registration.

•    Be aware that smoking is still allowed in bars in MD, but EYC has banned it from our bar.  You are allowed to smoke on the deck and all surrounding outdoor areas.

•    Due to the change in venue, Haul-out will be in the order of distance traveled.
