Important note :
Subtitling doesn’t always work as expected if you select MPEG-2 video files that you do not reencode. If you want it to work properly, they must absolutely have a DVD compatible resolution, i.e. height 576 for PAL and 480 for NTSC. You can nevertheless try without reencoding to check.
If this does not work, you will have to reencode your MPEG-2 files with MovieGate. Please see the MPEG-2 section.
Subtitling
MovieGate supports video tracks subtitling. For now, you can only use one subtitle file per track.
First of all, you must have a subtitle file because MovieGate does not include a subtitle editor. Supported subtitle formats are: .sub, .srt, .ssa, .smi, .rt, .txt, .aqt, .jss, .js, .ass.
If you want to create your own subtitling, you may want to use TitleLab.
Adding a subtitle
First, select a video track in the list that you want to subtitle or add your subtitle file directly after you have selected your video file.
New controls appear for subtitling.
Font
Select the font you want to be used for subtitling.
Font Size
Select the font size you want.d
Character Set
Choose the character set. If you don’t know it, stick with the default choice.
Horizontal Alignement
This defines the horizontal alignment of your subtitling. Most probably, you want to use Center.
Vertical Alignement
This defines the vertical alignment of your subtitling. Most probably, you want to use Bottom.
