Current Research Interests

I am currently investigating a potential control strategy for a mosquito vector of Lymphatic Filariasis, Aedes polynesiensis in French Polynesia. The aforementioned control strategy involves the inundative release of males that are cytoplasmically incompatible with naturally occurring populations. Incompatible males mate with naturally occurring females resulting suppression or possibly elimination of the population. Current projects include: the characterization of naturally and artificially Wolbachia infected Ae. polynesiensis, population dynamics of Ae. polynesiensis, the examination of gene flow among potential target populations in French Polynesia using microsatellite markers, and radiation induced sterility of incompatible strains of Ae. polynesiensis.
