Health, internal power, and the skill to apply the power in martial arts applications. The center element of the practice is the internal discipline that dictates how movement should be made from the internal core of the body, the abdomen and the back, not from the external parts of the body such as the arms and shoulders. This

discipline is essential to gain the full health benefits of T’ai Chi. Without discipline, the entire logical structure of T’ai Chi disintegrates and can no longer be considered an internal martial art.

T’ai Chi will help you to be more flexible, physically, mentally and emotionally. It will help you to deal with the stress and anxiety of our daily lives.

T’ai Chi is a lifelong encounter that becomes deeper as one studies.

T’ai Chi and Chi Kung Classes for Women on Mondays at 3 PM

T’ai Chi Classes for Seniors on Wednesdays at 10 AM

I began studying T’ai Chi in 1985 in Portland, Maine with Caroline Loupe, and went on to study with Ramel Rones of Yang Martial Arts Studio. Rami has gone on to become the Qigong advisor to Dana Farber Cancer and Tufts and Harvard Cancer Center. I have attended many workshops with a number of Chinese Masters, including

Master Liang, Master Huang, Master Duan and Master Gallagher from Vermont. It has been my privilege to teach T’ai Chi for nearly 20 years.

My practice has helped me through many changes in my life. Qigong and T’ai Chi are instrumental in keeping me healthy and strong. I feel how much stronger my immune system is from my practice. Additionally, this practice has given me a sense of calmness, patience, well being, and the emotional strength to deal with many situations and people.

Many students say how graceful I look when I do the form and wonder why they don’t yet look that way. It is

just a matter of time. There is a sequence of 113 postures to remember. This is a lifetime pursuit. It’s essential to enjoy the movement and keep in mind that everyone’s body moves differently and so you will develop your own unique look.

Be patient with yourself while studying T’ai Chi. It takes time to learn the movements and to then get the movements inside your body.
