Transit: Abstracting the System
Carolyn Carr, Michael Gibson, Melissa Messina, Odili Donald Odita & Mark Sheinkman

ATLANTA, GA- The artists in this exhibition work with in the mode of abstraction and have, like generations before them, altered and redefined the language of Abstract painting as it relates to their generations' contemporary culture. Thus, they look back at the historical signifiers of abstraction as an intergenerational dialogue to explore the potential of abstraction from their generational point of view.

The artist in this exhibition though not directly influenced by abstract expressionism, explore the possibilities of abstraction and communicate its relevance in contemporary art while investigating ideas of universal and social systems. Such systems include microcosms and models found in media and communications, politics and power structures, science and technology, ecosystems and nature.
