Imagine a world where two wheels are more common than four...where the bicycle has become much more than an expensive toy. This is Rwanda. In a country recovering from the worst genocide in recent memory, the bicycle has become a crucial tool for survival. Enter Project Rwanda. Founded by mountain bike pioneer Tom Ritchey, the Project aims to use the bicycle as a means to help revitalize the economy of a country torn apart by internal conflict. The goal is to ship out a fleet of special “coffee bikes” to help the Rwandan coffee growers transport their goods more efficiently. If you give a man a bicycle... So how do you come in? On Saturday, January 27th, Tom and cycling enthusiasts of all ages will be hoping into the saddle to help raise awareness and funds to help get bikes to those who need them the most. You are invited.
