Welcome to Our Woods!
Corby Old Village Primary School After School Club received a Local Network Fund grant in 2007 to make our the woodland play area, a friendlier place for all the children that use it. In 2008 the After School Club was awarded a grant from Awards For All to carry out Phase 2 of the project.
Every child in every Year group had the opportunity to work with artists a variety of different artists Carole Miles, Jo Dacombe, Kate Dyer, Nathan Smith, Clare Carney and Philippa Tipper. We psent many happy hours making artwork to put inside the woods, without disturbing the wildlife that lives there.
We had lots of ideas, tried new things, planted young trees and bulbs, made living willow structures, took photographs, made land art, tried printmaking, worked with clay, made junk sculptures, designed and painted woodland inspired furniture, went into the woods to hear stories and got loads of fresh air!
On the following pages you will see some of the things we made. Phase 1 took place from October 2007 - March 2008 and Phase 2 took place from April 2008 - July 2008.
