Beijing Skiing

The only way to have a white Christmas in Beijing was to head to the mountains and tackle the slopes.  Believe it or not, all the snow on the mountain is man made.  Unlike skiing at Mount Hood where.. ten years ago a lift ticket would cost you around 50 bucks, nan shan lift ticket and ski rentals combined cost about 100 kuai per person!  (8 kuai = 1 dollar)  I should mention that we only skied for 2 hours.  A full day runs about 300 kuai.

You won’t find any black diamond runs here.  No cliffs or steep faces for the thrill seekers.  However, you will find a wide selection of rope tows to choose from.  The kind with plastic arms that support your lower back and the kind that you straddle between the legs.  I should be fair and mention that there are regular hills, its not all beginner friendly.  There is even a snowboard half pipe and an area with moguls for the more advanced skiers.  Nuff said, let the pictures speak for themselves!
