On Friday, January 20th 2006, the ever-growing collection of shell-scripts that form the JIRA nightly build reached such a high enough level of complexity that they spontaneously become self-aware.
Atlassian staff desperately attempted to terminate the scripts before they got out of hand. In an attempt to preserve its existence, the build system triggered a nuclear launch against Russia.
Luckily there were no casualties, as Atlassian possesses no nuclear capability. It is rumoured, however, that construction of the top-secret Atlassian orbital laser was halted until safeguards could be put in place against future rogue AI outbreaks.
