I am a St. Louis, Missouri native but I have also lived and worked in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Virginia and back to Chicago.   I’m a librarian who has worked in libraries, or companies automating libraries, for the over 30 years.  I worked at St. Louis County Library and held a variety of increasing responsibilities, ending my tenure there as an Assistant to the Director.  I then joined the ILS vendor,  Data Research Associates, Inc. (DRA) where I worked for 14 years in a variety of roles, last as the Vice President of International Business.  I then moved to Innovative Interfaces as their Vice President of Sales and Marketing and later joined Ameritech Library Services where I was Vice President of Marketing, Product Management and International Business.  I joined Ex Libris (USA) as President in December of 1998. In a period of four years I spearheaded a number of initiatives that led to Ex Libris becoming a leading vendor of ILS academic systems in North America.  In April 2003 I joined VTLS as President and COO.  In early 2007, I founded a company named CARE Affiliates, a company specializing in open source software.  In July 2008, Ex Libris (USA) asked me to return to be the President once again.

I hold an MLS from the University of Missouri at Columbia. I’m active in the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) and am a member of ALA. Additionally, I have served on the Board of  NISO in a variety of roles. 

I’m married and have one son who lives in Chicago.
